The Marketing and Communications Strategist plays a key role in advancing Invest Ottawa’s brand and integrated marketing efforts across owned, earned, and paid channels. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Integrated Marketing, this role contributes to the development, planning, and execution of multi-channel marketing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and measurable impact.

This position requires a strong understanding of brand voice across platforms, persuasive writing, and data-driven storytelling. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and brings a collaborative, creative, and analytical mindset to every project—from campaign discovery through delivery.

  • Corporate Pay Band C: $60,800- $91,200
  • Hiring Salary Range: $60,800-$83,600
  • Reason for opening: Backfilling an existing role

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Collaborate across departments to plan, develop, and execute integrated marketing campaigns that align with Invest Ottawa’s strategic objectives and business goals.
  • Partner closely with communications, digital, creative, and events teams to ensure cohesive storytelling, consistent messaging, and seamless campaign execution across all platforms.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, agencies, and media partners to deliver high-quality marketing initiatives that enhance visibility and engagement with target audiences.
  • Lead and manage marketing projects from concept through completion, overseeing timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture, supporting onboarding, mentorship, and professional development of students, interns, and contractors.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and initiatives that strengthen Invest Ottawa’s brand presence, impact, and alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Oversee project budgets and resource allocation, ensuring marketing investments are efficient, transparent, and aligned with campaign goals.
  • Create, refine, and adapt campaign content and messaging, leveraging creativity and data-driven insights to maximize reach, engagement, and conversion.
  • Analyze campaign performance and audience insights to evaluate effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and guide future marketing decisions.
  • Exercise strong judgment and critical thinking in managing competing priorities, making data-informed decisions, and maintaining consistency with brand standards and accessibility best practices.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Manager.

WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER:

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field, with 4+ years of progressive experience in marketing, communications, or brand strategy roles. (or equivalent work experience)
  • Proven ability to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns across paid, earned, and owned channels, demonstrating both strategic thinking and tactical execution.
  • Experience managing and creating content across digital and traditional platforms, ensuring alignment with brand voice, positioning, and storytelling principles.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to craft persuasive, audience-focused messaging and adapt tone for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, balancing multiple priorities, solving problems proactively, and delivering high-quality results.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools and performance measurement, using data and insights to inform decisions and optimize campaign impact.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and curious mindset, with a commitment to inclusivity, continuous learning, and innovation; bilingualism (French/English) and marketing certifications (e.g., HubSpot, Google Analytics) are strong assets.
