Position Summary:
The purpose of this job is to operate, maintain the Hub machine and all equipment to produce a variety of tableware. The operator follows established specifications, procedures, and methods. This work includes such duties as:
Primary Responsibilities:
*Operates and inspects glass feeding, hub, and auxiliary equipment. Works with Maintenance Associates during setup, mechanical failure, and other adjustments. Assures availability of equipment specified on setup sheet or needed for proper operation. Maintains and adjusts variety of parts to equipment such as rollers, trimmer, dwell, anvils, fire polishers etc. Changes heads, greases, oils, and cleans various parts of the hub and auxiliary equipment as needed. Adjusts and maintains a variety of variables such as air, air pressure, water temperature, mold temperature, oil levels, Hub speed, etc. Trouble shoots process and equipment using department troubleshooting guides’ process. Inspects quality of ware and records data on the computer. Records specified information and data on S.O.S sheets once a shift or as necessary. Records and notifies the proper personnel of mechanical failure or any other difficulties, to eliminate excessive machine downtime.
*May be called upon to perform a function that results in the generation of hazardous waste, and therefore may be required to attend relevant RCRA training.
Required Qualifications:
*Must have a GED or High School Diploma.
*Minimal 2 years of manufacturing experience in a fast-paced environment.
*Must be able to handle 16 to 50 pounds under 25% of the shift such as: pick up plates for inspection, move oil drum with dollie, occasionally moving parts of equipment (i.e.) Loaders heads, trimmers, etc.
*Ability to inspects 20-30 pieces of ware four times per shift.
*Meets such tolerances as .109" in setting rollers and trimmers.
*Ability to change heads, adjust rollers, trimmers, anvils, etc., as well as the usage of basic hand tools such as wrench, screwdrivers, etc.
*Basic understanding of processes. Knowledge of hub and auxiliary equipment. Correlation of instrument control location. Basic computer skills.
*Make minor adjustments to equipment. Know where emergency buttons are in case of mechanical failure or major adjustments.
*Responsible for materials and/or product by monitoring the equipment properly.
*Must demonstrate high degree of attention to prevent damage to hub, orifice and other auxiliary equipment.
*Responsible for directions of other within team setting environment.
*Able to be exposed to intermittent surroundings of intensely disagreeable conditions such as: heat, glare, grease and oil.
Other Details:
After successful completion of 90 calendar days will be eligible for medical benefits. Thereafter completing 180 calendar days, eligible for dental, vison, basic life insurance and other benefits. Membership in the United Steelworkers Local 1034 union after serving 130 working days or 1040 hours whichever comes first. Initial hourly rate $24.26. Increases after satisfying 1000 hours through reaching apprenticeship hours.
