Job Description

As a Thermal Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Applied R&D and Electromechanical Design teams. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the development and testing of cutting-edge products. This position offers an opportunity to work with highly skilled engineers and contribute to the creation of reliable, cost-effective solutions.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Conduct thermal design, simulation, analysis, and testing for the latest products and prototypes.
  • Manage complex designs during the development and testing phases, ensuring timely product release.
  • Generate fan curves (PQ curves) and system impedance curves using airflow chambers.
  • Measure system operating points at specific fan speeds and test standalone heatsinks on Thermal Test Vehicles.
  • Assist in designing test enclosures, building snorkels, and mounting plates.
  • Create electrical jigs to access fan leads/connectors and control fans.
  • Utilize machine shop tools to build custom test setups as needed.
  • Maintain the airflow lab and ensure all tools with calibration stickers are kept up-to-date.
  • Generate detailed test reports and make them accessible to the team on a shared server.

Key Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of directly related experience in thermal design, simulation, or analysis.
  • Knowledge of AMCA 210-99 standard and experience with airflow chamber testing.
  • Strong understanding of thermal principles and practical applications in electromechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in using thermal design software and simulation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex designs.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing business environments.
  • A proactive and innovative mindset is preferred.
