$133,000.00 - $247,000.00At Infinera, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for equity grants, discretionary bonuses, or commission payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company’s incentive plans, the Company’s financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.

Job Description – Principal Systems Engineer for Coherent IF Module Firmware
As part of Nokia’s Optical Networks Group, you will have a unique opportunity to perform a leading role in the design and architecture of high-capacity coherent pluggable optical interfaces in OSFP and QSFP form factors. You will be responsible for architecting and implementing new firmware platforms for pluggable modules in collaboration with our module firmware and hardware engineering teams and product line management.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
- Understand customer use cases and coherent module applications; clarify system & product concepts, features & requirements based on a thorough understanding of the interaction of such modules with the host equipment and interface standards like CMIS.
- Technical leadership of the firmware architecture and implementation for coherent optical pluggables. Definition of product requirements for the pluggable module and module FW in cross-functional teams with FW, ASIC, HW and optical communication experts. Documentation of FW requirements and architecture in clear and concise specifications.
- As an architect / systems engineer and subject-matter expert, work as part of agile FW teams on the implementation of pluggable modules and guide the team with your domain and technical expertise.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Hands-on experience in embedded SW/FW development for environments with constrained resources – ideally with a telecom background.
- Experience with pluggable modules like QSFP, OSFP, CFP modules and their hosts.
- Good understanding of host – module interfaces, including module behavior and related standards like CMIS.
- Excellent programming, analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Highly motivated team player adept at cross-functional, cross cultural and international teamwork
Education & Experience Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field + 5 years of experience
