Pay Range (Annual):
$108,500.00 - $201,500.00At Infinera, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. Your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role may be eligible for equity grants, discretionary bonuses, or commission payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company’s incentive plans, the Company’s financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.

Staff Hardware Development Engineer
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
The Senior Hardware Engineer will be responsible for design, test, validation and manufacturing introduction of digital and mixed-signal printed circuit board assemblies. You will also be developing, integrating and verifying proof of concepts and evaluation boards for development of new technology.
In addition to design activities, your duties will include test and lab support as part of a multi-disciplinary team, such as bringing-up of new boards, debugging and characterization, setting-up test equipment and developing test solutions. You will a key member of a dynamic team developing leading-edge telecom products.
- Participate in design specification, component selection and evaluation, detailed design, prototyping, hardware bring-up and verification
- Perform board development including circuit design, schematic capture and driving PCB placement and layout
- Develop and maintain documentation such as functional specifications, PCBA build documentation, test plans and reports
- Collaborate with FPGA, ASIC, system, optical, mechanical designers throughout design and integration
- Work closely with diagnostics and software developers to define bring-up and debug requirements
- Develop and execute integration and verification to ensure compliance to requirements
- Develop test methods, scripts and automation
- Specify and set-up test environments (equipment, fixtures).
- Define production test and provide manufacturing support as necessary
- MS/BSEE and minimum of 5+ years of experience with board level hardware design, including circuit design experience, schematic capture, PCB layout
- Knowledge of Cadence Concept is not essential but considered a plus
- Strong debugging and lab skills, including test development and execution
- Experience in microprocessor & digital circuit design and debug, SERDES, implementation of high speed I/O and clock termination techniques
- Experience in design and measurement of analog circuitry
- Experience with implementation of on board power converters, dc-dc step-up, buck and linear regulators
- High current, low voltage, power sequencing design and debug experience
- Knowledge and experience with ADC/DAC selection and debug
- Knowledge of PCB fabrication, fab & assembly design rules, product integration with mechanical components
- Good writing and communication skills
- Good team player with strong attention to detail, organizational skills and demonstrated problem solving abilities
