We are looking for an experienced Information Systems Administrator and Team Lead to guide our IS team in Burnaby, BC and drive operational excellence. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, combining technical expertise in Public and Private Clouds, VPNs, and Office to ensure the smooth running of our computer systems.
The successful candidate will work hybrid- remotely from home and also on-site from our Burnaby head office. You will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading our hardware and software systems, managing our network, ensuring data security and providing technical support to our staff. You will set strategic priorities, and ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our systems. The successful candidate will lead by example, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Job Summary:
- Maintain and upgrade hardware and software systems, including servers, workstations, printers, and peripherals.
- Administer and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Manage CloudStack infrastructure and related services.
- Provide leadership to a small team including objective setting and performance reviews
- Ensure data security and backup systems are in place and running effectively.
- Provide technical support to employees and troubleshoot any IT issues that arise.
- Manage Office 365 tenant administration and user support.
- Manage software licenses and maintain an inventory of all hardware and software.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure system integrity and security.
- Manage the installation and maintenance of new software applications and systems.
- Work with third-party vendors to procure and maintain IT systems and services.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends in IT and make recommendations for system improvements.
- Salary range: 75,000CAD to 95,000CAD - dependent on successful candidate experience.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an IT Systems Administrator with expertise in CloudStack, VPN, AWS, GCP, and Office 365.
- Strong knowledge of Windows, MacOS and Linux operating systems, virtualization technologies, and cloud platforms.
- Experience with networking, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and data backup and recovery.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Relevant industry certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) are a plus.
- Knowledge of SOC2 Type2 requirements an asset.
- Weekly travel required, as needed, to the Burnaby office and local Data Centers.
