Department Summary
The Credit and Client Banking (CCB) Team is dedicated to maintaining accurate and reliable financial records through meticulous reconciliation and monitoring. We manage a wide range of financial operations including cash flow, settlement payments, tax execution, and regulatory reporting. Our team ensures compliance, supports audits, and delivers exceptional service through proactive analysis and stakeholder engagement.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Specialist, Credit and Client Banking, is responsible for overseeing complex financial operations and ensuring the integrity of banking and ledger activities. The Senior Specialist ensures optimal liquidity through daily cash sweep oversight and resolves escalations with a focus on root cause analysis and sustainable solutions.
As a subject matter expert, the Senior Specialist provides technical guidance across cross-functional teams, reviews and authorizes high-value transactions, and mentors junior staff to uphold accuracy and quality standards. The role supports audit readiness and regulatory compliance, including CIRO, CSOX, and CDIC requirements, through rigorous documentation and reconciliation practices.
With a strong focus on risk management and operational excellence, the Senior Specialist assesses downstream impacts on client service delivery, drives process improvements, and maintains comprehensive procedural documentation. This position plays a key role in enhancing financial accuracy, efficiency, and service quality across the organization.
- Oversee and analyze daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledger (G/L) and control accounts, client cash positions, rebalancing activities, and other financial elements impacting the ledger. Manage Daily cash sweep files to ensure optimal liquidity management and alignment with operational and funding requirements.
- Manage and resolve complex escalations with a focus on root cause analysis, timely resolution, and implementation of long-term corrective measures.
- Investigate financial exceptions, document findings, and drive the implementation of sustainable solutions to mitigate recurrence.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) across cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives, providing guidance and technical expertise.
- Review and authorize high-value financial transactions, including bank wires, inter-account transfers, and currency conversions, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
- Provide oversight and mentorship to coordinators and junior staff, reviewing daily outputs and ensuring adherence to accuracy and quality standards.
- Support audit readiness by contributing to successful internal and external audit outcomes through accurate reporting and transparent processes.
- Champion risk management by adhering to the department’s risk and control framework and promoting a culture of compliance and accountability.
- Assess and manage downstream impacts of financial operations on internal and external client service delivery.
- Identify, lead, and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and service excellence.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive, up-to-date procedural documentation to support knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
- Audit, Regulatory and Compliance Support: Ensure adherence to internal policies, CIRO regulations, Canadian Sarbanes-Oxley (CSOX) requirements and Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) through rigorous reconciliation and documentation practices. Support audit processes and monitor critical system files and escalations.
- Process Improvement & Collaboration: Drive efficiency through process enhancements, cross-functional collaboration, and application of business knowledge across teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a strong understanding of financial operations and controls.
- Solid grasp of financial products and services, including their structure, market relevance, and operational impact.
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on processing experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex financial discrepancies.
- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and high transaction volumes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex financial information clearly and professionally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis), Word, Outlook, and Tableau.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a focus on identifying inefficiencies and driving continuous process improvements.
- Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a collaborative mindset that contributes positively to team success.
