As a critical engine behind Ottawa’s economic development and a globally recognized technology and innovation hub, the Kanata North Tech Park is home to a robust and vibrant tech ecosystem.
Hub350 aims to create a connected innovation community & world class 5G hub to further position the Kanata North Tech Park as a global competitor for talent, ideas, and investment. Our mission is to support innovation across Ottawa’s business community and empower local technology entrepreneurs to succeed.
Responsibilities: • Develop content and create plans for all Discover Technata programs • Create an annual event and program strategy for all Talent programs • Manage all logistics for each event including venue, food, AV, agenda, speakers, moderators, production plans and event timeline • Establish relationships with venues and partners • Liaise with Communications department to send invitations and communications • Reserve event space • Manage ticket sales for large events (Eventbrite) and all communications • Communicate with clients • Manage invitation group lists and ensure they are up to date • Manage event budgets • Lead Hire Local on behalf of KNBA and Hub350 • Nurture partner relationships and engage partners when opportunities arise
Skills & Qualifications: • 5 years of relevant professional experience • Post secondary degree/diploma in Marketing/Human Resources/Event Planning • A proven track record of successful events • Experience in creating event timelines • Exceptional Customer service skills • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Management skills • Negotiation skills • A basic understanding of the human resource and/or technology industry and what the events are usually like • An understanding of social media and other marketing skills used to send invitations and promote events • Knowledge of performance monitoring methods for events and the ability to create reports to guide future event coordination improvements • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented • Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment • Experience in MS Office applications • Ability to exercise good judgement, take initiative and act proactively • High standards of ethics and confidentiality • Ability to travel to company events as needed
Objectives of the Position: • Support and enhance the work being done currently by the Kanata North Business Association by bringing fresh perspectives, new energy, and ideas • Hub350’s programs create direct access to connect academic institutions and their talent to career opportunities with member companies. • Experienced talent within the park are also engaged through a variety of executive leadership programs to guide next generation technology workers transitioning from academic institutions through mentorship and immersive learning opportunities.
