Summary

Conducts tests, equipment setup, equipment operations, experiments, monitoring and measuring; builds prototypes and testing equipment; maintains and calibrates standards and equipment. Follows procedures and records results. Works in accordance with general objectives, improving and refining devices and methods, as necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sets up of test and mechanical equipment, monitors and measures instruments and other apparatus, performs testing on breadboard circuitry, prototype units, production units, and electronic circuitry.
  • Has been introduced to the efforts to follow steps to operate equipment that has been programmed to different simulations in outdoor environments as well as mechanical support, testing/operation of special equipment in field support activities.
  • Supports technical bench and field setup, deployment, retrieval and repairs, with travel to remote site areas as required.
  • Builds, troubleshoots, and installs both electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Conducts tests and experiments with new materials, equipment, and processes.
  • Captures data for analysis.
  • Locates malfunctions in product and testing equipment.
  • Follows calibration and operating procedures based on knowledge of equipment.
  • Makes sketches and marks up drawings as needed to show changes as they occur.
  • Assists with maintaining appropriate primary and secondary metrology standards, test laboratory equipment or control consoles and associated monitoring, measuring and recording instruments; and calibrates equipment, instruments, electrical/electronic standards and standards of mass, force, dimension and other phenomena during or after maintenance, and on regularly scheduled calibration dates.
  • Records laboratory notes and other details, as specified.
  • Performs test techniques for new product during development.
  • Performs work that utilizes existing fixtures, devices, methods, process steps, or procedures, implementing changes as directed.

You Must Have

  • Formal training or practical experience equivalent to technical knowledge obtained in military training courses or through a two-year technical degree.
  • 0 years of experience required
  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain DOE Q level security clearance.
