We are looking for a Fire Alarm Technician to install and update fire alarm systems in commercial buildings. Under general supervision, performs inspections and maintenance of fire alarm and suppression systems for compliance with district policies/procedures and local, state, and federal regulations and standards to ensure the environmental health and safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Applicants for this position should have their level I, II, or III NICET certification, which requires prior experience. You should also be knowledgeable about NFPA standards, including NFPA 70 and 72.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install or upgrade fire alarms in commercial buildings
  • Provides guidance and consultation to contractors, and other technical personnel regarding fire alarm and suppression systems, fire safety inspections, and other related issues
  • Test and integrate alarm systems already in place
  • Perform construction inspections to ensure alarms are installed according to code
  • Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace

MUST HAVE

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work on ladders and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

WE VALUE

  • Texas State Fire Alarm Technicians license a plus
  • NICET certification preferred (requires prior experience or training)
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards a plus (including 70 and 72)
  • Experience with commercial systems
