As Senior Project management specialist in Database Management in Honeywell, IT you will have opportunity to support large footprint of various database technologies and make a difference by establishing a solid foundation for innovation, performance, reliability, and scalability working on on-prem and public cloud solutions leveraging multiple database technologies. You will focus on Database Operations and project management.

This position is responsible for leading database teams to deliver project(s) that span across one or more business units. Manage resources, schedules, financials and adhere to stage gate quality and control guidelines throughout database development life cycle. This also includes management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery. Also, oversee, review and lead the operational metrics and ensure customers are delighted.

As project management specialists have responsibility to follow the metrics on a day-to-day basis. Verify that the SLAs are met within agreed windows, and ensure quality deliverables by DBA team, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits.

As a Sr IT Project Mgmt Specialist here at Honeywell, you will lead and mentor a team, align IT strategies with business goals, and ensure project success within quality, budget, and timeline expectations.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of Application/Database project, Operations management experience on-premise and public cloud, including tracking and planning projects
  • 6+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
  • 6+ years of previous experience with gathering requirements from the client / business and documentation
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and / or Senior Leadership
  • Knowledge and experience in handling and working closely with application, database and infrastructure teams
  • Proven experience in tracking operational metrics on daily basis, and take appropriate action
  • Prompt on taking timely escalations to database leadership team
  • Experience in handling high priority issues, finding root cause and track for permanent remediation
  • Strong influencing, program and change management skills
  • Strong business acumen and customer focus
  • Strong knowledge of IT business processes and practices including ITIL methodology
  • Ability to effectively deal with critical outages and remediation efforts given risk activities
  • Experience with full product lifecycle with understanding of development lifecycle and various technology methodologies that support that lifecycle

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span across the environments
  • Drive database project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Closely work with on-site and offshore database leads and leaders
  • Drive and lead operational excellence across database team
  • Drive and lead High priority issues representing database team working across other organizations like Infrastructure, Application teams and update database leadership
  • Prepare and present weekly status on project and operations status to Database leadership
  • Represent DBA team in weekly / monthly IT wide operational calls
  • Work closely with IT operations team in managing, reporting Service Now Metrics/CMDB etc.,
  • Ensure Database Inventory is 100% updated in CMDB connecting with other assets like server, application etc.,
  • Participate, contribute, lead in all DBA team driven major initiatives
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project
  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across Database Management Leadership
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies and critical path deliverables
  • Coach, mentor, motivate DBA team members on the success of the organization
