We are looking for a skilled Test Engineer to own the verification and validation of our next-generation connected systems. You will work at the intersection of hardware, networking, and firmware, testing how intelligent controllers interact with sensors, communicate via IP/cellular/mesh networks, and meet strict international regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in both network protocols and embedded system troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test Strategy & Execution: Develop, document, and execute comprehensive test plans for system-level functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Network & Connectivity Testing: Validate network connectivity, protocol robustness (TCP/IP, Bluetooth LE, Wi-Fi, LoRaWAN/cellular), and data integrity across systems. Setting up L3 Networks
  • Sensor & Controller Interaction: Troubleshoot interactions between embedded controllers (PLCs, Microcontrollers) and sensor arrays (IoT sensors, actuators, analog/digital sensors).
  • Regulatory & Certification Testing: Prepare, execute, and document tests for compliance with industry standards (e.g. UL such as 294, NIST, FIPS 140-3, 201 or IEC standards).
  • Automation: Develop and maintain automated test scripts (Python) to optimize regression testing.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Perform deep-dive troubleshooting on failed tests to isolate issues between hardware, firmware, or network configuration.
  • Documentation: Create detailed test reports, bug reports (JIRA), and compliance documentation for certification bodies.
  • Anticipate <10% travel
  • Should have flexibility to support operational requirements occasionally after hours or weekends.

As an Advanced Systems Engineer here at Honeywell, you will work at the intersection of hardware, networking, and firmware, testing how intelligent controllers interact with sensors, communicate via IP/cellular/mesh networks, and meet strict international regulatory standards. The ideal candidate has a strong background in both network protocols and embedded system troubleshooting. You will report directly to our Sr Software Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Duluth, GA, or Atlanta, GA location on a Hybrid work schedule.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Education: B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Experience: 6+ years of experience in system testing, specifically within embedded systems, , or Building/industrial automation.
  • Networking Knowledge: 2+ years of experience in Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, BLE, MQTT) and packet analysis (Wireshark), Understanding of L3 Networks.
  • Windows/Embedded Linux System: 2+ years of experience in Hands on Windows based systems and creation of base image scripting for windows and hardening configurations
  • Scripting: 2+ years Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages for test automation.

WE VALUE

  • Experience in Building automation or Building Security or Intrusion detection domain. Experience working with Government projects.
  • Understanding of any coding language like C/Ctt
  • Hardware/Sensors: Hands-on experience interacting with controllers (UART, I2C, SPI) and sensors.
  • Regulatory/Compliance: Proven experience in verifying products against regulatory standards (e.g., UL, IEC, NIST).
  • Tools: Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and protocol analyzers.
  • Interest to learn self, being agile to changing needs, completing the activities within constraints, ability to come up with ideas for product and process improvements
