The Navigational Radios – Radar Altimeters is an engineering group within the CNS organization in which this Project Engineer role is Included – with products spread across both commercial and military domains. While part of a large company and diverse organization, the NavRadio-Radar Altimeter group operates very much like a small business in many ways. We are fully integrated every aspect of a product’s life cycle – from working with a customer on a concept and subsequent proposal, through development, verification, production, and even obsolescence refreshes.
As an Advanced Project Engineer here at Honeywell, you will provide expert-level technical leadership in the design and development of complex engineering projects, acting as the subject matter expert and driving technical excellence. You will report directly to our Senior Engineering Manager and you’ll work out of our Minneapolis, MN location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Our key contributors are expected to wear multiple “hats” dependent upon the program scope and timeline. With respect to Advanced Project Engineers (PE), our expectation on medium to smaller programs is for the PE to operate as both PE and LSE (Lead System Engineer) – managing the cost/schedule of the program along with driving technical discussions and stepping in and executing work where needed – such as drafting technical presentations or data items.

YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering, or related scientific discipline such as physics.
- 5 plus years of experience in development programs with a mix of commercial and military products.
- 1 plus years of demonstrated experience leading team/project.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance.

- Knowledge of aircraft avionics and how they are used in commercial and military aircraft.
- Familiarity of applicable and current areas of FAA, TSO process, and MOPS content related to radar altimeters and their respective development, formal certification, and related artifacts.
The annual base salary range for this position is $104,000 - $130,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical point of contact for customers and the program manager.
- Prepare schedules and resource forecasting.
- Participate in proposals and cost estimation.
- Provide project oversight of day-to-day activities to achieve on time and on budget execution.
- Oversight of risk management process and baseline change processes.
- Drive the EVM (Earned Value Management) process and effective management operating process (MOS).
- “Jump in” and support technical team as needed with small/medium programs.
