As a Principal Project Engineer here at Honeywell, you will coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring effective project coordination. Your monitoring of project progress and adherence to timelines, budgets, and technical objectives will help maintain project efficiency and deliver high-quality results. This role is a true blend of program leadership and hands-on technical engineering, responsible for both execution and technical depth.

You will report directly to our Senior Engineering Manager for MEMS and Ring Laser Gyro Sensors and you’ll work out of our Minneapolis, MN location on a Hybrid work schedule.

As a Principal Project Engineer at Honeywell, you will coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring effective project coordination, monitor project progress and adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards, and drive operational excellence and innovation in the successful execution and delivery of complex engineering projects.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.

The annual base salary range for this position is $154,000- $173,500. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations

US PERSON REQUIREMENT
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or have asylum or refugee status in the U.S.

YOU MUST HAVE
• At least 6 years of experience in project engineering or related roles.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex engineering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Comfortable balancing multiple timelines – supporting near-term production needs while driving longer-term development priorities.
• Experience with integrating and troubleshooting complex systems, including optical, mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Strong documentation skills, including the ability to capture design documentation, system requirements, and test procedures.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and external partners.

WE VALUE
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
• Strong physics background, experience with optical and laser design and/or Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS).
• Knowledge of optics, laser beam propagation, signal processing, and data analysis.
• Experience in MEMS fabrication processes, inertial sensor modeling, and ASIC/PCB integration.
• Experience in leading and managing large-scale and complex projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Passion for innovation and continuous learning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and manage complex engineering projects from initiation to completion.
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Develop and implement project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Coordinate between both development programs and production line stakeholders.
