Days/Hours : Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (Willing to travel between 2 locations) Salary Range : CAD $50,000 to $60,000 DOE Key Accountabilities: Health & Safety: - Be a role model for employees by demonstrating a high level of ownership and commitment in all matters pertaining to Health and Safety.
- Facilitate the administration of the Joint Health and Safety committee.
- Facilitate new employee Health and Safety orientation training.
- Facilitate and arrange all site HS training (Lock Out/Tag out, First Aid+CPR, etc.).
- Participate, and conduct site inspections, safety meetings.
- Maintain and review Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and PPE required for the site.
- Conduct respirator fit testing and monitor compliance with program requirements.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant legislative and internal operational requirements, work with managers to ensure understanding and consistent application of these requirements across the facility.
- Work collaboratively with managers and employees to support objectives of risk management and incident reduction.
- Collaborate with the H&S Team across Canada to implement required systems and offer ideas for innovation and improvement.
- Develop and distribute safety talks.
- Conduct regular and random site safety audits and provide related reports for trends analysis.
- Assist in investigations of incidents and near misses and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Work with management to implement and consistently improve the Health and Safety program.
- Maintain, learn and communicate the Health and Safety regulations, policies, practices and procedures.
- Champion internal health and safety culture initiatives.
- Complete all health and safety reports in a timely manner including but not limited to WSIB and OHS forms and ensure incidents are properly reported.
- Lead the WSIB and MLITSD cases and act as liaison with management, WSIB and workers in relation to health and safety.
- Manage the first aid facilities, first aid reports and follow-up, first aid response, site first aid kits.
- Provide/arrange first aid training as required.
- Support Human Resources with the Early and Safe Return to Work process including modified work processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Health and Safety role preferably in an industrial or greenhouse setting
- Experience managing WSIB cases including objections and appeals.
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree from an accredited college or university in Health and Safety or a related field preferred
- Proficient in MS Applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Co-Pilot.
- Current First Aid certification preferred (must be willing to be certified if not currently certified).
- Lift Truck Train the Trainer certification preferred.
- Respirator Fit Testing certification preferred.
- Can-do, roll-up-the-sleeves attitude with a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning.
- Strong organizational skills and able to manage simultaneous priorities.
- Excels in a fast-paced, quick-change environment.
