The Manager, Medical Cannabis New Product Development (NPD) will lead the creation, optimization, and launch of innovative medical cannabis products across Tilray’s international markets. This role blends scientific expertise, commercial acumen, product development and disciplined project management to deliver a pipeline of differentiated, evidence‑based products that strengthen Tilray’s position as a global industry leader.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable discussing pharmaceutical technology, building business cases along with the commercial team, and driving cross‑functional teams toward launch. They bring an understanding of medical cannabis science, evolving patient and prescriber needs, and the regulatory landscapes across key international markets.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Innovation
  • Identify and evaluate new product opportunities based on scientific insights, market trends, competitive intelligence, and unmet patient needs.
  • Translate scientific concepts into commercially viable product ideas that align with Tilray’s global medical strategy.
  • Develop product roadmaps for international markets, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and commercial priorities.
Project Management & Cross‑Functional Leadership
  • Lead end‑to‑end product development projects from concept through commercialization, using structured project management methodologies.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams including R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Medical Affairs.
  • Build and maintain project timelines, risk assessments, and communication plans to ensure on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
Scientific & Technical Expertise
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on cannabinoid science, formulation technologies, delivery systems, and product performance.
  • Partner with R&D to design and refine formulations that meet clinical, regulatory, and commercial requirements.
  • Interpret scientific literature and clinical data to support product claims, positioning, and education materials.
Commercial & Market Alignment
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing teams to ensure product concepts meet customer, patient, and prescriber needs.
  • Support development of value propositions, product messaging, and launch materials.
  • Conduct competitive assessments and market analyses to guide product differentiation and pricing strategy.
Regulatory & Quality Collaboration
  • Work closely with Regulatory Affairs to ensure product concepts are feasible within international frameworks.
  • Support dossier preparation, product documentation, and compliance activities.
  • Ensure all products meet Tilray’s quality standards and global GMP requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related field; advanced degree an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, innovation, or technical project management within pharmaceuticals, natural health products, cannabis, or related regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of cannabinoid science, medical cannabis markets, and international regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage complex projects.
  • Commercial mindset with experience collaborating with Sales/Marketing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate scientific concepts into clear business language.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving industry.
