As a Principal Engineer – DevOps, you will be a hands-on technical leader driving the architecture, design, and implementation of DevOps solutions for Flexera’s Ocean and Elastigroup product lines. You’ll collaborate across engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure. This role also supports the expansion of new engineering teams in India focused on Quality Engineering and Automation, as well as Application Delivery, contributing to knowledge transfer and global innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architecture & Design
    • Define and evolve DevOps architecture for Ocean and Elastigroup, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
    • Design infrastructure-as-code (IaC) frameworks using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Kubernetes
  • Implementation & Automation
    • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native microservices
    • Develop automation scripts and tooling to support deployment, monitoring, and incident response
  • Cloud Optimization & Security
    • Optimize multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) for cost, performance, and resilience
    • Implement security best practices across infrastructure and deployment workflows
  • Collaboration & Mentorship
    • Partner with global engineering teams to align on DevOps standards and practices
    • Support onboarding and technical enablement of the India-based Quality Engineering and Automation and Application Delivery teams
  • Observability & Reliability
    • Integrate monitoring and alerting tools into production systems
    • Lead root cause analysis and postmortems for critical incidents

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in DevOps or infrastructure roles
  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, container orchestration (Kubernetes), and CI/CD tooling
  • Strong coding skills in Java, or similar languages
  • Expertise with infrastructure-as-code (e.g. Terraform) and cloud cost management tools
  • Experience with SaaS delivery and cloud cost optimization
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to ML/AI systems
  • Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) and performance/load testing frameworks (e.g. JMeter, k6)
  • Familiarity with FinOps, ITAM, and cloud governance principles
  • AWS or Kubernetes certifications (e.g., AWS DevOps Engineer, CKA)
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to architectural councils
