Flexera is looking for a seasoned Staff Software Development Engineer to be part of the development team for our Technology Intelligence Platform endpoint applications used to collect inventory and usage data from an enterprise’s environment.

What you'll do:

  • Design, implement and unit test solutions.
  • Drive and influence architectural and design decisions within the team.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver product functionality that meets customer needs.
  • Work closely with other members of the team and wider engineering organization on design iterations, code reviews, security, performance, testability, and inter-operability.
  • Work closely with Technical Support to resolve customer issues. Investigate, analyze, and fix identified defects.
  • Debug complex problems reported by customers, automation failures and resolve them with appropriate release vehicles.
  • Support the team’s culture of respect, excellence, and trust; confidently promote our team’s principles and culture across the organization.
  • Guide and mentor, the team in terms of code quality, design patterns, general technical knowledge.
  • Ensure we employ fantastic testing and QA processes to minimize the risk of escaped defects.

You'll be expected to have:

  • 10 years professional experience as a software engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline such as Software Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Expertise in object-oriented design using C++.
  • Expertise with both Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Experience with Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within and between teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Agile delivery experience and a willingness to work closely in an agile development model.

Highly desirable technical skills would include some experience with the following tools, technologies, and frameworks:

  • Cloud infrastructure: AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
  • Containerization: Kubernetes, Docker, Podman
  • Databases: Oracle
  • Other coding languages: Golang and Python
  • Other platforms: AIX, Mac OS and Solaris
  • Tools: Jenkins, Jira, Git, Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Familiarity with SSL certificates and proxies.
  • Experience in building with open-source code such as OpenSSL and libcurl etc.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting network-related issues.
