How you’ll make an impact

Leverage your expertise in privacy legislation and access to information to support FCC’s privacy and access to information program and ensure the organization meets its legislative obligations.

As a Privacy and Access Specialist, you’ll manage and respond to requests under the Privacy Act and the Access to Information Act, support privacy impact assessments and assist with incident management. Your strong analytical and communication skills will help you interpret legislation, prepare formal responses and collaborate across the organization to strengthen transparency and compliance.

What you’ll do

  • Process and respond to requests under the Privacy Act and Access to Information Act

  • Research, analyze, and interpret privacy and access legislation, policies, and directives

  • Prepare formal written responses and recommendations related to privacy and access obligations

  • Support privacy impact assessments and investigate certain privacy breach incidents

  • Maintain records and documentation to demonstrate transparency and compliance

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance privacy awareness and program effectiveness

  • Prepare briefing notes and notifications for senior management for contentious requests and incidents

  • Develop and maintain privacy policies, procedures, guidance materials and training content

What you’ll bring to the team

Required qualifications:

  • A degree in administration, business, information management, communication or a related field

  • At least four years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • Working knowledge of the Privacy Act and the Access to Information Act

  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a professional office environment

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

  • Intermediate proficiency in both official languages (English and French)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., SharePoint, OneNote, Teams) and records management practices

  • Privacy or accessrelated certification (e.g., IAPP CIPP/C, CIPM) or willingness to obtain
