Job Role Description
The Advanced Process Design Engineer is expected to apply engineering skills, knowledge of facilities design, and leadership skills to:
- Develop, optimize, and provide technical follow-up of facilities design specifications
- Support capital projects, inclusive of major, regional, and local site projects
- Support all stages of project development and execution
- Acquire a strong working knowledge of technology fundamentals for their assigned areas
This role is expected to effectively collaborate, interact, and communicate with project team partners. The Advanced Process Design Engineer will start developing key leadership skills to facilitate the transition from an individual contributor to a technical leader
The Advanced Process Design Engineer will also assist with the development of both functional and behavioral skills of less experienced engineers

Job Role Responsibilities
Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain Heat & Material Balances, PFDs, and preliminary P&IDs to support project development and contribute to technical documentation, e.g. design basis, design considerations, risk analysis, etc and document completed efforts for future reference
Optimized Equipment Design: Responsible for the design / rating of new and existing equipment and integration of other non-process equipment design into overall project scope. Apply Right Scope principles and Value Improving Practices to achieve an optimized design
Technical Support: Address complex technical challenges and support projects from development planning through commissioning and startup
Economic Analysis: Provide input to economic analysis / cost and schedule estimates for project alternatives evaluation
Additional Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities to improve work processes
- Produce design deliverables for integration of new and existing technologies
- Check quality of process design integration and deliverables created by contractors
- Mentor early-career professionals
- Participate in layout, modularization, 3D model development, and review
