Maintenance Mechanical Technician

Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and availability of mechanical and rotating equipment through the safe and effective execution of maintenance activities. This role supports operational excellence by performing preventive, predictive, corrective, and troubleshooting activities in compliance with company standards, engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

The incumbent is expected to maintain critical production and utility equipment in a manner that promotes personnel safety, environmental stewardship, equipment reliability, and operational continuity. The position involves inspection, dismantling, repair, overhaul, reassembly, testing, and commissioning of various mechanical assets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma (D3) in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Maximum age of 30 years.
  • Up to 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or in a related maintenance role.
  • Sound understanding of mechanical drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), technical manuals, maintenance procedures, and applicable engineering standards.
  • Good command of English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting capability, and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently while effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Adaptable and willing to work in a dynamic industrial environment.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, accountability, and commitment to Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental principles.

Technical Competecies

Candidates should possess practical knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more of the following systems and equipment:

  • Gas Turbine Engines
  • Diesel Engines
  • Gas Lift / Gas Injection Compressors
  • Fuel Gas Compressors
  • Utility Air, Instrument Air, and Nitrogen Compressors
  • Utility Pumps / Chemical Injection Pumps (ANSI/API)
  • Water Treatment and Water Injection Pumps (ANSI/API)
  • Oil Process Pumps and Export / Shipping Pumps (ANSI/API)
  • Heat Transfer Systems / Air Coolers and Fin-Fan Coolers / Industrial Blowers.
  • Additional experience in equipment diagnostics, vibration monitoring, alignment, and condition-based maintenance will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and overhauls of mechanical and rotating equipment in accordance with company procedures, engineering standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Safety, Security, Health, and Environmental policies and safe work practices during all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and with a high standard of workmanship to maximize equipment reliability and availability.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and equipment history within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Support planning and execution activities by identifying required materials, spare parts, tools, and specialized resources.
  • Participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process by preparing and reviewing mechanical-related modifications to equipment and systems.
  • Ensure maintenance tools, measuring devices, and test equipment are maintained in proper working condition and calibrated where applicable.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Engineering, Reliability, and Project teams to resolve technical issues and improve equipment performance.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and maintenance practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Power Generation, or other heavy industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity with international standards and practices related to rotating equipment maintenance (API, ANSI, ASME, ISO, and OEM requirements).
  • Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings, P&IDs, cross-sectional drawings, and equipment assembly drawings.
  • Working knowledge of SAP PM, CMMS, or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Experience performing precision shaft alignment, laser alignment, and soft-foot correction.
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonic inspection, and borescope inspection.
  • Understanding of Permit to Work (PTW), Isolation Management or Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
