Master Thesis - Log Analysis using Generative AI

About the opportunity
In modern product testing, each test generates valuable logs containing much more than a simple "pass" or "fail" outcome. Today’s quality assurance practices demand deeper analytical insights into these results, focusing on understanding the reasons behind failures. This requires synthesizing information from multiple sources, including complex and extensive logs, to identify patterns and anomalies. By analyzing system behaviour rather than merely verdicts, teams can investigate deviations more effectively and continuously improve product performance.
Project Description
This Master Thesis project will explore the feasibility of automated methods to analyze generated logs in order to confirm assumed fail results and, more importantly, to provide initial insight into the reasons behind these fails. Input sources will include human-readable specifications, historical logs with confirmed fails and passes, configuration files, and documentation of the test equipment. The envisioned output may confirm a fail, pinpoint its location in the log or in the code, and even link it to previously known issues.
The skills you bring:
- Near completion of an M.Sc. in Wireless Communication, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex technical data.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Good social and communication skills to support collaborative work.
- (Preferred) Experience in wireless testing or familiarity with AI/ML techniques for data analysis.
What you will do:
- Investigate, design, and implement automated methods for log analysis.
- Work with various data sources including logs, specifications, and configuration files.
- Identify failure points in logs and/or source code.
- Develop algorithms or workflows that relate fails to known issues.
- Collaborate closely with expert engineers and researchers.
- Present findings and recommendations in both written and oral formats.
