Energy Performance SV Engineer
Ericsson
Join our Team
About this opportunity:
Join us in shaping the future of sustainable mobile networks – where your ideas can power innovation and drive real-world energy savings at Ericsson’s cutting-edge Energy Performance team in Lund!
We are creating exciting end-to-end RAN solutions at Ericsson, but we also think there are great opportunities to improve them using clever engineering and smart ideas. In our group, we are strengthening our focus to make our products more energy efficient – through both system design, prototyping and system verification. We are especially interested in how Baseband and Radio products can operate as energy efficiently as possible in Radio Access Networks. Focus is on 4G and 5G networks with 6G approaching rapidly as well.
New innovative improvement ideas always need to match our customer needs, so analyzing our customer networks data from deployed products and features is a necessity for our successful innovation.
This is your chance to significantly influence the reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions in mobile networks around the world, from within a world leader in communications technology as part of your daily working assignment!
What you’ll do:
We work in a uniquely versatile group, with a very broad range of competences ranging from System Verification, SW development, HW development, good knowledge of 3GPP specifications and of User Equipment behavior. Our main asset as a team is the combined understanding of how HW, SW, system design and clever features need to interact in the right way across all parts of a radio base station to minimize power consumption in a Radio Access Network.
In our team, we perform both hands-on measurements (for example with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers and heat cameras) as well as System Verification with trace and KPI analysis to fully map out the way our products behave in our end to end high-touch lab in Lund.
You will participate in test plan reviews, define, write and maintain Python-based test cases based on product requirements, and execute verification plans. Analyzing test results and collaborating closely with product teams to understand and troubleshoot system behavior is a key part of the role.
Skills you bring:
Most importantly an open mind, with an eagerness to develop and cooperate within a self-organizing team but also building your personal networks outside the team as Energy Performance requires all parts of the system to come together for effective solutions.
We are therefore looking for a candidate to meet the following requirements:
• A master’s degree in engineering
• Experience from, or a strong drive to, work with test and verification as the foundation of your continuous development
• Communicates well in English, both in writing and verbally
• Knowledge of programming (we mainly use Python in our group)
• A curiosity about sustainable development and an understanding of the importance of energy performance of Ericsson products, and our contribution in the fight to reduce CO2 emissions
A strong candidate will also cover several of these wishes:
• Has a good understanding of Radio Access Networks and is curious to learn more
• Want to help others understand and learn
• Has hands-on experience or a strong interest in working with measurement equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer etc) and performing testing in a lab environment
• Good analytical skills, to be able to evaluate features gain from different ideas
• Being able to process and analyze large amounts of data using appropriate tools (such as SQL, R, Python, Tableau, Matlab, etc)
