About this opportunity:
Core Specialist (Packet Core Operations / Operations Engineer)
Overview: Join a network operations team responsible for configuration, troubleshooting, security compliance and 2nd-level support across Ericsson/Huawei packet core elements. The role focuses on vEPC (MME/EPG), SAPC/PCRF, and related nodes supporting GSM, GPRS, WCDMA and LTE technologies on virtual platforms.
What you will do:
• Perform configuration, upgrades, patches and system maintenance on SAPC/PCRF and other core nodes.
• Monitor and review Trouble Tickets (TT), Change Requests (CR) and Acceptance Tests (AT) daily; drive timely closure and proper documentation.
• Execute system configuration changes within authorized access rights and follow change-management procedures.
• Enforce MSTOP and other workplace processes; ensure password policies, security controls and audit requirements are met.
• Provide 2nd-level support and incident troubleshooting for packet core network issues, including escalation handling and RCA input.
• Contribute to runbooks, operational procedures and process improvements to increase reliability and reduce MTTR.
• Participate in cross-team technical reviews and recommend performance, capacity or resilience optimizations.
• Support shift/on-call rotations and ensure smooth handovers with clear documentation.
You will bring:
• Practical experience with vEPC components (MME, EPG), PCRF/SAPC and policy control functions.
• Familiarity with virtualized platforms (KVM/VMware or equivalent), Linux fundamentals and basic virtualization operations.
• Strong operational discipline: experience with TT/CR/AT lifecycles, change management, security audits and password policy enforcement.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Problem-solving mindset, critical thinking and demonstrated ability to deliver results under SLA constraints.
Key Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years in packet core engineering with demonstrable hands-on work on Ericsson/Huawei PS Core elements.
• Deep understanding of Diameter, policy and charging (PCRF/SAPC), session management and mobility control (MME) concepts.
• Experience managing nodes on virtual platforms (vEPC), including basic troubleshooting of virtualization and Linux hosts.
