About this opportunity:
We are seeking a high-performing, senior Account Manager with a strong hunter mindset to join our Optus account team. This role is focused on identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities with the RAN, Transport, Core and IT domains. The ideal candidate will bring deep telco industry experience, a proven track record in business development, and the ability to build trust and credibility with new stakeholders at Optus.
What you will do:
- Drive new business growth by identifying and developing opportunities in adjacent areas to our current footprint.
- Build and nurture relationships with new stakeholders at Optus, with the ability to open doors and influence decision-makers.
- Work cross-functionally with Optus’ Network, IT, and Business/Consumer teams to co-develop end-to-end, revenue-generating use cases leveraging technologies such as 5G Standalone (5GSA), AI, and network slicing.
- Lead the end-to-end sales cycle: from opportunity identification and qualification to proposal development, negotiation, and deal closure.
- Collaborate with internal technical and delivery teams to shape compelling value propositions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Optus’ strategic priorities and pain points to proactively position relevant solutions.
- Contribute to the overall account strategy and financial planning process.
The skills you bring:
• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with a strong focus on enterprise sales or account management.
• Demonstrated success in developing new business and closing complex deals.
• Strong network within the Australian telco ecosystem; existing relationships at Optus in the targeted areas are a significant advantage.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to identify customer pain points and craft tailored solutions.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and high level of accountability.
