Investigations Counsel – Government Enforcement

Our opportunity:

We are hiring an experienced investigations counsel to work at Ericsson, handling high-risk and fast-moving matters. Ericsson’s Corporate and Government Investigations (CGI) team is responsible for the investigation of potential legal and compliance violations within Ericsson and is a critical support in ensuring the effectiveness and credibility of the Company’s ethics & compliance program, defending the Company’s commitment to integrity in its culture and ways of working, building trust with its stakeholders, including enforcement authorities, and ultimately driving the company’s sustainable success. This position is on the Enforcement Team, which manages Ericsson’s government-facing investigations worldwide, and reports to the Head of Enforcement in Washington, DC. This team is part of a broader team that handles investigations and compliance and sits within Group Function Legal Affairs & Compliance.

This position is based in the greater Washington, DC area with a hybrid (in office and remote) arrangement.

In this role, you will:

  • Give legal advice and determine strategy in connection with investigations, particularly fast-moving investigations by government authorities, complex internal investigations, and cross-border investigations
  • Determine the need for and maintain attorney-client privilege; conduct investigations under attorney-client privilege where applicable and using internal resources or external counsel
  • Support our investigation, handling and reporting of matters to government authorities, where appropriate
  • Supervise external counsel on investigations and related matters
  • Support the preservation and collection of relevant data, the timely review and production of data, and the tracking of materials sought, collected and produced, as appropriate
  • Conduct internal investigations in a forensically sound, robust, fair and timely manner, and in compliance with relevant laws (including employment laws and data privacy laws)
  • Assist in the development of strategies and processes to mitigate compliance risk based on investigation risk areas
  • Draft clear written reports and summaries, edit reports, and assist others with report drafting
  • Collaborate with other in-house lawyers, investigators, analysts, and data management teams
  • Participate in broader cross-functional projects and initiatives relating to investigations, compliance, and company culture
  • Inform relevant decision-makers of the status of investigation findings on a timely basis and prepare and present summaries of the investigation
  • Assist in the development of investigations policies and processes
  • Act with integrity, objectivity and fairness
  • Apply sound legal judgment to address gray areas and interpret and apply the law

Requirements

Ericsson Inc. does not sponsor US work authorizations for this job position including H-1B, O-1, and TN. Ericsson also does not hire F-1’s working on EAD for this position.

Required qualifications:

  • A law degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission and good standing in a state bar
  • 15+ years’ experience handling complex investigations or litigation, including Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-corruption issues, accounting fraud, cross-border investigations, and/or False Claims Act litigation
  • 5+ years government investigations and enforcement experience, including experience interacting with prosecutors and regulators in the United States
  • Experience working directly with and reporting findings to senior stakeholders on significant investigations or legal issues
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment or with cross-functional teams
  • Experience independently handling and managing multiple complex matters simultaneously
  • Fluency in English

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in-house at a multi-national company or at a global law firm advising multi-national businesses
  • E-discovery experience
  • Compliance experience
  • Foreign language fluency

Your Pay
The salary range for this position is listed below. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

• LOCATION: $211,600-$317,400

STV: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

SIP: Your pay also includes the opportunity for sales incentives as a part of Ericsson’s Sales Incentive Plan. Actual payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual incentive target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Ericsson offers excellent health benefits including the choice of 3 medical plan options, 2 of which are PPO plans requiring employee contributions to the cost of premiums, and a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with no premiums for employees and dependents. Your Financial Security
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericsson’s 401(k) plan offers an automatic 3% company contribution and up to a 4% company match, leading to a maximum company contribution of 7% annually. Employees will also receive company paid basic life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage and paid company short-term and long-term disability benefits. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.

Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided up to 40 days of paid time off per year, including 15 days of accrued annual vacation, 3 personal days, 11 paid holidays, 10 sick days, and 1 volunteer day. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Those with additional vacation time at the end of the year may sell one week of vacation, equal to a week of pay. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of maternity/medical leave, 6 weeks of paternity or adoption leave at 100% of pay, and medical leave at 100% or 66 2/3% of pay, based on length of service.
