Position Title: Director, Software Development – Digital Card Solution

Position Overview:

We are looking for a motivated professional to join our team in a hybrid role (3 days/week) based in Paris. Reporting to the VP Software Development- Secure Issuance, the role will lead the DCS (Digital Card Solution) Software Engineering team, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and contribute to initiatives supporting Entrust’s Digital Card Solution (DCS)—a digital‑first payment platform that enables instant digital card issuance, push provisioning to Apple Pay and Google Pay, secure in‑app card display, and tap‑to‑pay experiences directly within mobile banking apps.

This position holds comprehensive accountability for all aspects of DCS development, ensuring timely and successful product delivery. The role will partner closely with Product Management to define and implement effective product strategies.

This role requires adaptability and strong leadership skills to manage a broad range of responsibilities, resolve technical and operational challenges, address prioritization issues, and oversee complex project demands in a fast‑paced, innovation‑driven environment.

Product Development Leadership (70%)

  • Lead a global team of 20+ cross-functional developers, QA, and managers.
  • Cultivates strong, reliable relationships across departments and collaborates effectively with colleagues, leadership, and stakeholders to accomplish both business and R&D objectives.
  • Coordinate complex projects from inception to completion, working with the Instant Financial Issuance team in Shakopee, MN.
  • Apply Agile (Scrum) and phase-gate methodologies, tracking progress and enforcing standards.
  • Demonstrate expertise in secure development life cycles, threat modeling, and web application security assessments.
  • Guide software and marketing specification creation, providing technical leadership for product development.
  • Identify innovation opportunities, accelerate launches, and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Promote efficient product development through cross-disciplinary understanding and creative solutions. Minimize schedule and technical risks by proactively resolving obstacles.
  • Champion process improvement for faster time-to-market and cost savings.
  • Inspires, motivates, and engages team members by articulating a clear vision, aligning work to purpose, and celebrating team successes.
  • Foster technical skills and leadership by coaching and mentoring both managers and individual contributors through coaching and mentoring, providing ongoing feedback, developmental guidance, and facilitating opportunities for growth and advancement.
  • Act as a level 3 escalation point for customer issues related to product components.

Product Line Leadership (30%)

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing and Management to oversee engineering initiatives for the DCS Product, including Operations, Professional Services, and Sales support.
  • Develop product roadmaps, articulate vision, and formulate innovation strategies to ensure alignment with organizational and business objectives.
  • Advise executive leadership on staffing and budget requirements necessary to achieve product line goals.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in computer science, engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years leading large software teams; 5+ years in software development
  • 5+ years of project management experience
  • Proven experience in leading teams focused on innovation and improvement in complex development environments
  • Proven experience mentoring leaders in the technology sector
  • Skilled at driving cross-functional projects,
  • Strong problem-solving and solution design skills
  • Agile (Scrum) expertise, ideally with scrum master background
  • AWS, Java, C++, XML, Web Services, iOS, Android experience
  • Excellent global communication abilities (verbal and written)
  • Experience working in a global environment
  • Willing to travel internationally up to 5%
  • Fluent in French and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possesses a Master’s degree in Engineering or an MBA.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing cloud-based solutions within banking, payments, tokenization, and digital wallets.
  • Exhibits exceptional technological expertise with a keen ability to identify relevant information efficiently.
  • Highly motivated by opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • Extensive experience leading the development of complex software architectures and platforms.
  • Strong situational leadership skills and demonstrated ability to adapt as needed.
