Position Summary

Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Work You’ll Do
Assist clients with fundamental tax planning and analysis. Work to understand company-specific business and tax issues and work with the company to optimize its tax position to identify and mitigate risk areas. Assist clients in streamlining their tax compliance process, especially in the area of partnership specific tax calculations, tax compliance reporting and Schedule K-1/K-3 preparation. Assist clients within the Investment Management industry with: Life Events for Partnerships (formations, terminations, mergers); Inside and Outside Basis Computations; Section 704(c) and 743(b) computations; taxable Income calculations; Schedule K-1/K-3 processing; foreign fillings analyzing and reporting; and development of custom technology solutions to streamline the compliance process. Develop client service relationships and facilitate specialized Deloitte tax services to improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client’s overall tax risk profile. Apply federal tax compliance principles and the intricacies of tax regulations and work closely with clients as well as the Deloitte tax team to further clients’ global goals and strategies and align them with industry and economic trends. Mentor and coach junior team members. Conduct tax analyses for traders and investors, coordinate client relations, and manage tax filing signature processing.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client workpapers and tax returns.

Experience must include 18 months of:

  • assisting clients with schedule K-1 processing;
  • performing complex partnership computations, including IRC 704(c) computations, basis adjustment computations under IRC 743(b) and analyzing partnership agreements with respect to investment management funds in order to compute complex tax calculations regarding partnership allocations;
  • completing workpapers and income allocation schedules, and analyzing and creating tax footnotes to create Schedule K-1 and Schedule K-3 filings; and
  • reviewing taxable income calculations.

Experience must include 12 months of:

  • utilizing tax software, including GoSystem, to provide tax compliance and consulting services to various clients;
  • utilizing tax research resources to respond to federal notices for Partnerships;
  • applying tax compliance calculations to the preparation of returns for hedge funds, private equity funds, and investment management products;
  • preparing and reviewing PFIC (Passive Foreign Investment Corporation) statement, Form 5471, Form 926, Form 1065, Form 8865, Form 8621, and Form 8858 for US and non-US entities; and
  • assisting with the analysis and launching of new private equity funds, including requesting EIN, withholding statements, and withholding tax forms for offshore entities.

Hours: M-F, 40 hours/week;
Annual Salary: $81,620.00 - $151,580.00
