Position Summary

Work you’ll do

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Database Administration and will be responsible for managing and optimizing our enterprise-scale data pipeline, which consists of Oracle and PostgreSQL RDS databases. This role requires a deep understanding of various DBMS platforms, cloud-based databases, and database automation and scripting.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead a team of Database Administrators and Database Developers in managing and optimizing enterprise-scale data pipelines.
* Oversee the administration and maintenance of Oracle and PostgreSQL RDS databases.
* Design and model databases, including creating E-R diagrams and ensuring data normalization.
* Optimize SQL queries and perform query tuning and indexing to enhance database performance.
* Implement and manage database security measures, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and access control.
* Develop and maintain backup and recovery plans, and monitor database performance.
* Manage data migration and integration processes, including ETL and data warehousing.
* Automate database tasks and develop scripts to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of database solutions with other systems and applications.
* Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and best practices to ensure the highest level of performance and security.

Teams assess current business processes and capabilities as part of digital transformation initiatives and support strategic priorities across clients’ enterprises.

Qualifications

Required:

* Minimum of 5 years of experience in Database Administration.
* Proven experience working with a team of Database Administrators and Database Developers.
* Extensive experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL DBMS platforms.
* Experience with cloud-based databases, preferably AWS RDS.
* Proficiency in database automation and scripting.
* Strong background in database design and modeling, including E-R diagrams and data normalization.
* Expertise in SQL and query optimization, including query tuning and indexing.
* In-depth knowledge of database security, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and access control.
* Experience in backup and recovery, as well as performance monitoring.
* Proven experience in data migration and integration, including ETL and data warehousing.
* Bachelor’s degree required.
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
* Active Secret Clearance required.
* Ability to travel 5-25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

Preferred:
* Certification in Oracle or PostgreSQL database administration.
* Experience with additional DBMS platforms.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $126,000 to $210,000.
