The Calgary Assurance group is rapidly expanding. Joining our team will provide you with opportunities to develop and hone skills, expand your internal and external networks and be a key member in the growth of our practice.

What will your typical day look like?

As a Senior Consultant/Assistant Manager in the Assurance group in either our Accounting Reporting Assurance (ARA) or ESG Assurance practice you will:
• Contribute to the planning and execution of projects
• Work directly with clients on complex technical accounting matters including accounting research and preparation of complex accounting and process memorandums under IFRS, U.S. GAAP and ASPE as well as upcoming sustainability reporting frameworks.
• Work on transactions related to disruptive events, including support accounting due diligence engagements as well as clients with initial public offerings, prospectus and other regulatory filings
• Opportunities may arise to serve clients and / or support local office teams around the country or internationally
• Develop and lead timely communications - both internal and external - relevant to our professionals and clients
• Develop materials for and participate in the delivery of presentations to clients and firm personnel
• Contribute to market and eminence initiatives, including development of new service offerings and marketing campaigns within the practice; including proposal/RFP assistance
• Contribute to business development in growing the Calgary Assurance practice

About the team

The Calgary Assurance group is rapidly expanding. Joining our team will provide you with opportunities to develop and hone skills, expand your internal and external networks and be a key member in the growth of our practice.

Our Calgary Assurance group is composed of the Accounting & Reporting Advisory (ARA) team, including Sustainability Reporting Advisory (ESG), the Controls Assurance team, and the IT Audit and Assurance team, which focus on providing solutions for controllership functions, and enabling CFOs and their Finance teams for success.

Our Accounting & Reporting Advisory Team focuses on assisting our clients and internal Deloitte teams on researching, analyzing and developing technical accounting solutions, assisting entities with the adoption of new standards or other regulatory reporting requirements, assist with the implementation of strategy or execution related to transactional events (such as M&A, divestitures and carve-outs, IPO, litigation support, etc.)as well as providing an accounting perspective for advisory engagements.

Our ESG Reporting Team assists clients with their readiness for evolving sustainability reporting requirements such as IFRS S1 & S2, SEC Climate Disclosure Rules and the EU’s European Sustainability Reporting Standards.

As a Senior Consultant/Assistant Manager, you would be part of the team to gain unique and broad experiences as you develop into a next generation leader.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone with:
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Business
• Have the CPA designation or equivalency OR be in progress of completion of the CPA is preferred
• Possess a minimum 2-4 years of relevant work experience in Audit
• Must possess strong technical accounting skills (GAAP, securities and regulatory, assurance) and experience in and knowledge of ASPE, IFRS, U.S. GAAP).
• Clear understanding of financial systems, internal controls (CSOX/PCAOB) and financial process and risk experience would be an asset
• Finance experience including accounting research, memo writing and process documentation: must be able to synthesize information, capture key insights and present findings in a clear and concise manner
• Capacity to think about requirements from a strategic perspective (options available, pros / cons of different options)
• Ability to use judgement and discernment to solve problems and make practical decisions
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Proactive self-starter with strong internal and external customer focus
• Problem solving (ability to “find it” and “fix it”)
• Strong attention to detail
• Project management discipline and structure
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong interpersonal skills: collaborates well with other teams and service lines
• Coach and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support in their professional development
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to work independently and to efficiently manage time, priorities and goals

Total Rewards


The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $106,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program.
