Senior BI Architect

The Sr. BI Architect is part of the Business Intelligence team that is responsible for analytics supported by IT across Finance, Services, and Human Resources. This individual will provide architectural and technical leadership across several BI/Data related projects and strategic programs within the organization. This role is responsible for the oversight, design and development of solution architectures, application of architectural standards, principles and policies while balancing business needs and ensuring alignment with endorsed strategies, standards and patterns. The role involves stakeholder management with a wide variety of groups and individuals including multiple functional teams, key business stakeholders, BI Analysts and BI support team. This role will report to the Sr. Manager of IT Analytics.

In this role you will…

• Implement technology standards and best practices
• Define, implement, and promote scalable BI architectural guidelines/standards, best practices, governing mechanisms, key processes, controls and supporting tools.
• Work with stakeholders across multiple business function to understand the business problem, architect solutions, provide technical guidance and work with development team to deliver in timely fashion.
• Manage the project and delivery timelines and communicate the progress to stakeholders.
• Create and design data models that follow industry standards and serve as the foundation to answer variety of business questions
• Guide and mentor the team on creating complex ETLs
• Manage the cloud infrastructure and devops function in AWS and complement the current architecture with right AWS services like Airflow, Glue, Lambdas.
• Hands-on development using SQL and Python
• Provide thought leadership on designing highly effective and actionable Tableau dashboards.
• Create comprehensive technical and functional design, SIT and UAT documents.
• Support BI tools upgrades in development, testing and documentation.
• Address customer queries and issues in a timely manner.
• Provide BI administration and technical support during weekends, after-hours and holidays, when needed.
• Provide technical training on BI tools to junior staff.

You’ve got what it takes if you have…

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field of study or equivalent post high school education and/or work-related experience
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering and Analytics
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data & BI architecture role
• 3+ years of experience in AWS technologies like and S3, Glue, Lambdas and in cloud data warehouses like Snowflake and Redshift
• Hands-on experience in SQL and ETL tools like Fivetran, dbt
• Hands-on devops experience in testing and migration
• Proven experience providing oversight for multiple, concurrent BI deliverables
• Proven ability to lead large scale enterprise-wide initiatives
• Should have the ability to drive process improvement tracking and execution
• Strong business and technical acumen with understanding of BI tools and techniques
• Demonstrated understanding and familiarity with standard IT process and application development methodologies
• Proven experience in BI technical leadership for project delivery: technical delivery planning and work
• Advanced knowledge of Agile-based SDLC practices and application to BI
• Strong knowledge of Data Warehousing and Modeling, good verbal and written skills, strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, considerable strength in Database queries, strong IT skills
• Strong background in more than one business domains including Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Customer Success & Support
