Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator / Data Services Specialist to support enterprise data platforms and ensure the stability, security, and reliability of critical databases and data services. The role will support a Data Services team responsible for maintaining database infrastructure that supports core government applications and data analytics initiatives.
This position plays a key role in operational database support, database architecture guidance, troubleshooting, and modernization initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high standards for data management, security, and performance while helping ensure that data remains a trusted asset across the organization.
The role also includes mentoring internal IT staff, supporting knowledge transfer initiatives, and collaborating with multiple technical teams and vendors to maintain a stable and high-performing database environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide database administration and operational support for enterprise database platforms.
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize database environments to ensure availability, performance, and reliability.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve database issues across multiple database technologies.
- Design, configure, test, and deploy databases and data warehouse environments.
- Provide architectural guidance and technical direction for database and data warehouse implementations.
- Assist with the development and implementation of database strategies for data management, storage, and access.
- Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies, including troubleshooting backup and restore processes.
- Monitor system performance indicators and proactively identify and address performance issues.
- Support the allocation and management of physical data storage for database systems.
- Design and document database models and data flow diagrams for new systems or modifications to existing databases.
- Develop data extracts, datasets, and data structures to support analytics and reporting needs.
- Assist in ensuring database and data warehouse interoperability with business intelligence and analytics solutions.
- Produce and maintain data models, database configurations, and data architecture documentation.
- Provide guidance on database security practices and support implementation of database security controls.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to IT staff on database technologies, tools, and best practices.
- Work with internal teams and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
- Support database-related projects and initiatives using established project management methodologies.
- Monitor and maintain data quality and ensure reliable access to enterprise data resources.
- Respond to service requests and incidents through assigned support tickets.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation related to database design, configuration, and operations.
- Support ongoing modernization and optimization initiatives across enterprise data environments.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned. Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong experience administering enterprise database platforms.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting databases across multiple technologies.
- Experience designing, configuring, and deploying databases and data warehouse solutions.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience developing data models, database schemas, and data flow diagrams.
- Experience monitoring database performance and tuning systems for optimization.
- Experience developing data extracts, datasets, and supporting reporting or analytics solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in enterprise IT environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to document technical solutions and processes clearly.
- Experience supporting data warehouse platforms and business intelligence integrations.
- Experience working within structured IT governance or project management environments.
- Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to IT teams.
- Experience working with enterprise ticketing and incident management systems.
- Experience supporting large-scale data environments or public sector systems.
