Director, Technical Marketing Engineer for AI

About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Technical Marketing Engineering – AI and Software Engineering, to lead our technical marketing efforts for AI-driven software solutions in EMEA. This critical role bridges the gap between product, engineering, marketing, and customers by delivering compelling technical content, enabling sales teams, and showcasing the technical value of our solutions to prospects and partners.
In this role you will play a pivotal role in driving the adoption and market success of our AI-powered security and automation tools in the region, and help support the overall product management organization for Cisco’s AI software group. You’ll craft technical narratives, build impactful demos, present at Cisco events, and lead enablement efforts that demonstrate how our solutions solve real-world customer challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Marketing Strategy
- Help drive demand generation for AI software solutions in the region, working closely with Cisco’s sales teams in the region.
- Define and execute the technical marketing strategy for AI security and agentic AI technologies, ensuring alignment with product and business objectives.
- Develop differentiated technical positioning and messaging that highlights the value and capabilities of our AI-powered offerings.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to stay ahead of trends and advancements in AI security and agentic AI technologies.
Content Development
- Create technical assets such as whitepapers, competitive analysis documents, solution briefs, presentations, and videos to communicate the benefits and use cases of our solutions.
- Develop and deliver compelling demonstrations, proof-of-concept (PoC) environments, and technical workshops tailored to diverse audiences.
- Author technical blogs, articles, and other thought leadership content to establish the company as a leader in AI security solutions and Agentic AI innovation.
Sales Enablement
- Train and enable sales teams to effectively position and articulate the technical value of AI-driven software solutions.
- Build and maintain a library of technical collateral and resources that empower the sales organization to address customer needs.
- Serve as a technical expert during strategic sales engagements, providing hands-on support and guidance.
Customer Engagement
- Partner with customers to understand their technical requirements and use cases, ensuring our solutions address their needs.
- Organize and lead technical workshops, webinars, and events to showcase product capabilities and customer success stories.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers by demonstrating deep technical expertise and a customer-first approach.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop team members to ensure technical and professional growth.
- Partner cross-functionally with product, marketing, and sales leaders to align strategies and priorities.
Market Intelligence and Competitive Analysis
- Monitor competitive offerings and industry trends to inform product development and marketing strategies.
- Provide feedback to product and engineering teams to guide the roadmap and improve product-market fit.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in technical marketing, technical sales, or product management roles, with at least 5 years focused on AI, machine learning, or agentic solutions.
- Proven track record of leading technical marketing efforts for enterprise-grade software or SaaS products.
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong technical expertise in AI/ML technologies and their application to Agentic tools and platforms.
- Strong understanding of networking technologies, including SD-WAN, campus networks, cloud, and other enterprise technologies
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity threats and mitigation techniques, especially in the context of AI
- Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts into customer- centric narratives.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with creating PoCs, technical demos, and hands-on labs.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and APIs relevant to AI security and agentic AI technologies.

When available, the salary range posted for this position reflects the projected hiring range for new hire, full-time salaries in U.S. and/or Canada locations, not including equity or benefits. For non-sales roles the hiring ranges reflect base salary only; employees are also eligible to receive annual bonuses. Hiring ranges for sales positions include base and incentive compensation target. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's hiring location and additional factors, including but not limited to skillset, experience, and relevant education, certifications, or training. Applicants may not be eligible for the full salary range based on their U.S. or Canada hiring location. U.S. employees have access to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings.
Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community.
Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:
.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;
1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;
1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.
For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
