The Paid Media Lead is a role within the Digital Marketing team at Ciena focused on executing and optimizing programmatic display and paid media campaigns across global marketing programs. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders and agency partners to support media strategy, campaign activation, performance optimization, and reporting across channels, including programmatic display, YouTube, Google Ads, and trade publications.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical thinking with hands-on campaign management experience, bringing an ability to balance big-picture marketing goals with close attention to campaign details, performance metrics, and operational execution. This role plays a key part in helping the team make data-informed media investment decisions and drive measurable business outcomes.

How you will make an impact:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and agency partners to support programmatic display and paid media strategies across awareness, consideration, and demand generation campaigns
  • Plan, launch, and manage paid media campaigns across DSPs and platforms including DV360, Google Ads, YouTube, and Connected TV
  • Execute media buys across trade publications and digital channels, including sponsorships, high-impact placements, contextual targeting, and video activations
  • Manage and optimize Google Ads campaigns across display, YouTube, and remarketing initiatives
  • Leverage audience, contextual, retargeting, intent, and ABM targeting strategies to improve campaign performance and efficiency
  • Analyze campaign, audience, and conversion data to optimize bids, budgets, pacing, creative rotation, frequency, and targeting strategies
  • Support budget planning, forecasting, pacing, and performance-based media allocation decisions
  • Leverage ZoomInfo Marketing to support audience strategy, account-based targeting, and programmatic activation
  • Partner closely with analytics, web, content, and regional marketing teams to support campaign execution, attribution, landing page performance, and lead conversion
  • Translate campaign performance data into clear insights, reporting, and actionable recommendations for stakeholders
  • Manage relationships with agencies, publishers, platforms, and vendors to support effective campaign execution and performance optimization
  • Stay informed on industry trends and evolving best practices across privacy, identity, AI-driven optimization, and digital media
  • Apply strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and deliverables in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain strong attention to detail while balancing strategic objectives with day-to-day campaign execution

The Must Haves:

  • 5–8+ years of experience managing paid media campaigns, including programmatic display and Google Ads· Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field.
  • Strong command of DSPs, audience strategies, and measurement frameworks
  • Strong knowledge and expertise of advertising platforms (Google Adwords, Zoominfo Marketing, etc)
  • Working knowledge of YouTube buying and measurement
  • Experience in keyword and contextual targeting and audience targeting techniques, with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets.
  • Experience with publisher-direct and trade publication media buys
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret campaign data and translate insights into optimization recommendations.
  • Comfortable balancing campaign execution with strategic thinking and performance optimization· Clear communicator who can push back on ineffective or low-value media buys
  • Experience in B2B, enterprise, or long buying-cycle environments preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate, engage, and work well with internal clients
  • Proven aptitude in a high velocity environment
  • Ability to reprioritize multiple projects as deadlines and objectives change
  • Ideal candidate can understand and translate technical concepts accurately to a non-technical audience
  • Works proactively and always thinks ahead
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to “think outside of the box”

Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position in Canada is $73, 200 - $116, 900
The annual pay range for this position in the USA is $84, 700 - $135, 300

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
