Ciena is seeking a strategic and results-driven Global Commodity Manager – Wafer Foundry & Advanced Material Systems to lead global sourcing strategies across silicon photonics, indium phosphide (InP), and other advanced wafer material platforms. This role is critical to enabling Ciena’s high-growth interconnect business through secure long-term supply, competitive commercial structures, and strong partnerships with leading global wafer foundries and material suppliers.
How you will make an impact:
• Lead global commodity strategies across silicon photonics, indium phosphide (InP), and advanced wafer material systems to ensure long-term supply assurance and scalability
• Build and manage a resilient, diversified supplier ecosystem aligned with Ciena’s technology roadmap and capacity growth plans
• Establish and maintain executive-level relationships with wafer foundries and material suppliers supported by structured governance and performance accountability
• Negotiate complex commercial agreements securing competitive pricing, capacity reservations, IP protections, and commercial flexibility
• Drive multi-year cost-reduction initiatives through yield improvement, should-cost analysis, and process and technology node transitions
• Ensure supply continuity through capacity planning, contingency strategies, and allocation management during constrained supply environments
• Partner cross-functionally to align sourcing with product roadmap milestones, margin objectives, and business growth requirements
The must haves:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field; MBA preferred
• 8+ years of semiconductor sourcing or wafer foundry management experience
• Deep understanding of silicon photonics, indium phosphide (InP), and advanced wafer fabrication ecosystems
• Demonstrated success negotiating complex global supply agreements
• Strong executive communication and senior stakeholder management skills
• Experience operating in high-growth, technology-driven environments
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities
Nice to haves:
• Experience with joint development agreements (JDAs) and long-term capacity planning
• Familiarity with wafer pricing structures, mask-set pricing, NRE models, and volume-tier structures
• Background in multi-sourcing strategy development and geopolitical risk mitigation
• Knowledge of telecom and hyperscale interconnect industry dynamics
• Experience aligning engineering, product, finance, and legal teams around sourcing strategies
• Understanding of technology node transitions and process migration impacts
• Exposure to Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) governance models
Pay Range:
The annual pay range for this position in Ottawa is $110, 100 - $175, 900

    Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

    Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
