What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Audit Manager, Operations, you will identify and communicate control weaknesses, process efficiencies and emerging risks to CIBC by leading or participating in the planning, execution and reporting of audits within the Infrastructure portfolios — including Capital Markets, Wealth Management and Retail Services. As an individual contributor, you will provide leadership, expertise and proactive control guidance to management and stakeholders. You will also support other Internal Audit groups as required. You'll operate with high degree of independence, managing audit timelines, stakeholder engagement, and deliverables with minimal supervisory oversight.

How you’ll succeed

  • Audit Execution - Work collaboratively in a leadership capacity to plan and execute risk-based audits, report audit results and perform continuous monitoring of management’s control environment. Champion the migration of best practices throughout CIBC and keep abreast of regulatory developments and emerging issues affecting CIBC and Internal Audit. Effectively manage multiple audits and internal projects at different stages to ensure completion within prescribed timelines including managing deficiencies by reviewing the artifacts supporting the corrective action plans and assessing whether actions remediated the risks. Communicate regularly on progress and issues. Review audit work to ensure a high level of quality and compliance with audit standards.
  • Leadership – Provide trusted and proactive advice to the audit team and business management on the design and operating effectiveness of processes and controls to ensure key risks and regulatory requirements relevant to the portfolio are being adequately managed. Coach and develop team members to build and maintain a collaborate team environment and ensure individual development goals are met. Lead and oversee end-to-end operational audits, directing the work of Audit Managers responsible for detailed testing activities.
  • Communication - Demonstrate clear, concise and influential written and verbal communication skills when issuing audit reports, discussing audit findings, resolving conflicts or interacting with CIBC executives, regulators and external auditors. Develop strong internal and external relationships through ongoing communication on progress of engagements and providing advice on risk, control and regulatory matters.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate 2-5 years of experience in planning & executing audits. You have comprehensive knowledge of auditing practices, accounting standards, regulatory requirements and Risk Management principles. You have experience in one/more areas including, Operations, Capital Markets, Wealth Management or Retail Services functions within a large financial institution.
  • You have a degree/diploma in Business, Accounting or Finance degree (e.g. M.B.A.), professional designation (e.g. CPA, CFA, CIA) or equivalent business experience
