What you’ll be doing
You’ll be joining CIBC’s Technology Operations team. As a Software Asset Management Specialist, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, governing and managing the CIBC Software Asset Management and Compliance program as well as managing and fulfilling all procurement and renewal requests, ensuring accurate compliance validations, artifact retention and entitlement management. This role will require you to analyze complex data from a variety of sources to create a comprehensive and concise view of all relevant data and prepare recommendations on how to proceed in a variety of situations. You will be a trusted advisor acting as a central resource bringing together the business, contract management, the vendors and legal if required. You will work with a pro-active view of you workstream ensuring timelines are met and processes are optimized for maximum efficiency and data quality. You’ll work directly with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, SCCM, and other software discovery tools and use advanced analytics to support licensing optimization and compliance initiatives.

How you’ll succeed
• Analytical Thinking & Data Insights - You’ll work directly with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, SCCM, and other software discovery tools and use advanced analytics to support licensing optimization and compliance initiatives. Evaluate entitlement gaps, consumption trends, and compliance exposure across multiple vendors. Support investigations using advanced AI capabilities, including Copilot and CIBC’s in-house tool CAI, to enhance accuracy, predictions, and automation opportunities.
• Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration - Engage regularly with procurement, TO tech team, product owners, vendor management, technology teams and finance. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and enterprise vendors to ensure alignment for renewals, audits, licensing changes, and optimization initiatives. Represent SAM confidently during reviews and discussions.
• Vendor Relations - Act as a subject matter expert for major software publishers including IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, Broadcom, and OpenText. Support vendor audits, including both soft audits and hard audits, ensuring complete documentation and coordination. Interpret licensing terms, contract entitlements, consumption reports, and remediation recommendations.
• Licensing Governance & Operational Execution - Support daily operational SAM activities, including entitlement validation, license reconciliation, software catalog accuracy, discovery reviews, configuration adjustments, and reporting. Maintain strong knowledge of key licensing models; perpetual, concurrent, subscription, PVU, core-based, cloud consumption, and other publisher-specific models and provide guidance to technology and business partners.
• Process Optimization, Reporting & Automation - Contribute to improving SAM processes, enhancing data quality, implementing automation, and maturing AI-driven insights. Identify optimization opportunities and support cost-saving initiatives through accurate compliance tracking and consumption analysis.
• Change, Collaboration & Values - Support the continuous improvement of SAM governance, AI adoption, operational procedures, and audit workflows. Work with integrity and uphold CIBC’s values, trust, teamwork, and accountability, while contributing to an inclusive, collaborative environment focused on risk reduction and operational excellence.
Who you are
• You can demonstrate 3+ years of experience. in SAM and IT Asset Management. You have a strong foundation in software asset management, combined with experience in ITAM and service management processes. You have worked with SAM tools such as ServiceNow SAM Pro, SCCM and can interpret entitlements, licensing models, contracts, and consumption data. You have supported audits, renewals, and optimization activities across large enterprise environments. You collaborate effectively with procurement, vendor management, finance, technology teams, and external vendors. You communicate complex licensing scenarios with clarity and confidence. You're passionate about people.

You use analytics and automation to improve SAM accuracy, efficiency, and reporting. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information.
