What you’ll be doing

As the Senior Manager, AML Risk Insights, you’ll support the Director Risk Insights to proactively identify and assess CIBC’s exposure to current, new and emerging ML/TF threats. As a highly skilled business intelligence and AML/ATF specialist, you will perform data analysis of varying complexity, leveraging structured and unstructured data, and robust risk assessment techniques, to create quality intelligence reports incorporating data trends, client segment profiling and controls assessment.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Analytical – Identify and prioritize relevant ML/TF risks and typologies for analysis to assess CIBC’s exposure. Transform data into actionable insights to support fact-based recommendations and provide trusted intelligence to the EAML senior leadership team.

  • Strategic – Responsible for the execution of targeted insights and intelligence assessments, including the selection of key data metrics, data sources and analytics methodologies to provide robust analysis and credible intelligence reports.

  • Impactful – Prepare professionally written reports and dashboards that are fit for purpose, and tailored to the target audience. Apply analytical skills and ML/TF subject matter expertise to derive relevant and impactful conclusions and recommendations from data. Passionate about solving challenging problems.

  • Articulate – Communicate complex information in an accurate, informative and concise manner. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Subject matter expert - Provide subject matter expertise to internal partners on strategic projects and change management initiatives including new products and services, and regulatory change impact assessments. Stay abreast of emerging ML/TF and Sanctions risks relevant to CIBC operations.

Who you are

  • You have working knowledge of AML/ATF laws and regulations in Canada and have comprehensive knowledge of ML/TF and Sanctions evasion typologies and red flags.

  • You have comprehensive knowledge of banking products and services for Retail, Small Business, Wealth Management, Commercial Banking and/or Capital Markets lines of businesses.

  • You have experience in Data Analysis tools, including SQL and/or SAS, and BI tools such as Tableau and/or Power BI.

  • You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a data analytics or management reporting role.

  • You have a University degree or equivalent.

  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way.

  • You are an effective communicator. You have well-developed communication skills sufficient to convey factual/conceptual information within the team and to other stakeholders.
