CIBC’s Model Risk Management team is responsible for developing and overseeing the frameworks that keep our models robust, compliant, and effective.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Model Governance Lead, you’ll lead the design and implementation of our model governance framework, ensuring we meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices. You’ll build and maintain model risk policies and standards, oversee the model inventory, and direct the activities of the model risk committee. You’ll engage with stakeholders across the bank, produce regular risk reports for senior leadership, and drive continuous improvement in our processes. You’ll also lead and develop a high-performing team that shares your commitment to excellence.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 3-5 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.
How You’ll Succeed
- Lead Model Governance – Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive model governance framework that ensures compliance with regulatory guidance.
- Develop Policies and Standards – Establish and maintain model risk policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Oversee Model Inventory – Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and ongoing maintenance of the model inventory, including model classification, documentation, and change management.
- Facilitate Committees – Direct the smooth operation of the model risk committee, supporting effective challenge, escalation, and decision-making.
- Engage Stakeholders – Serve as the primary point of contact for model governance matters with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Report on Model Risk – Oversee the production and delivery of regular model risk reports to senior management, risk committees, and the Board

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $146,300 - $228,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
