What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Data Engineer within CIBC’s People Data & Analytics team, you will design and build a resilient, consistent and observable people-data infrastructure that accelerates our modernization journey. You’ll translate complex HR data into well-governed, privacy-first assets that empower analysts, data scientists and business partners across the bank. Your work will enable faster insights, stronger decisions and a better employee experience.

How you’ll succeed
Shape our people-data architecture – Create canonical data models (staffing, demographics, recruiting, inclusion, talent) and curate marts that drive analytics and AI capabilities.
Champion DataOps excellence – Embed CI/CD, Git standards, automated testing, peer reviews, and best-in-class documentation to ensure code quality and rapid, reliable releases.
Optimize ingestion & transformation – Build and tune scalable Python/SQL(dbt) pipelines on Databricks, ensuring timeliness, efficiency, and high observability.
Safeguard privacy & compliance – Apply a privacy-by-design mindset, minimize PII, and implement granular access controls that meet regulatory and internal standards.
Enable data consumers – Partner with analysts, data scientists and HR leaders to understand use-cases, refine requirements, and deliver assets that unlock business value.
Who you are
Seasoned data engineer – You bring 5 + years of hands-on experience designing cloud data solutions, pipeline automation and data modeling with SQL/Python
DevSecOps advocate – You have a track record of integrating security, testing and deployment automation into everyday engineering practices.
Curious problem-solver – You love untangling complex data challenges and continuously improving performance, reliability and maintainability.
Business-minded collaborator – You translate technical concepts into clear language, influence stakeholders and drive consensus in cross-functional settings.
Values-driven professional – You act with integrity, embrace diverse perspectives and hold yourself accountable for delivering exceptional outcomes.
