What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Finance team supporting the Asset Management business, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for preparation of detailed sales/AUM reports and other performance metrics for CIBC Asset Management (6th largest Mutual Fund company in Canada with over $160 Billion of assets under management) which includes CIBC Mutual Funds, PPS, Renaissance Mutual Funds and Axiom. Provides advice to management with respect to business analysis and management reporting

How You’ll Succeed
Produce detailed mutual fund sales/AUM reporting and analysis - Responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely consolidated daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual business reports. Ensure all appropriate internal controls are in place to produce accurate reporting of business results. Ensure data integrity (i.e., according to classification requirements and accuracy of information compiled and analyzed). Analysis of unit costing and profitability and interpret and summarize results for management. Respond to ad hoc requests from senior management, other business units and the sales force. Conduct research and analysis for business planning initiatives.
Liaise with the business and monitor business unit performance - Communicate business results and responds to ad-hoc queries from management. Consult with the business on their information needs and implement reporting solutions to meet their requirements. Develop plans and forecasts based on business operating results and key metrics. Establish and acquire relevant fact based information and analytics to support key business decisions. Consult with internal and external sources, to obtain, provide, verify and discuss information and best practices.
Initiate enhancements - Design and test new programs and reporting formats as required. Improve existing procedures/processes for data analysis and reporting. Source and establish database information to ensure the business has value added information and analytics. Work with technology partners to implement changes to information systems to meet continually changing retail distribution structures. Work with heads of distribution as they seek to gain a deeper and broader understanding of their sales force and clients.
Manage Information - Participate in the development of new and enhanced management information. Recommend improvements to current reporting and procedures, as well as new enhanced reporting, procedures and controls and participate as a user in system implementation. Determine the information required from business units and develop reporting forms and procedures accordingly. Consolidate information from the various product lines to develop a consolidated view of the business. Streamline CIBC Asset Management business analysis and reporting to reduce redundancies and centralize reporting. Conduct industry research to identify and/or analyze trends/issues for senior management.

You can demonstrate 3+ years experience in reporting and financial analysis. Excellent knowledge of Excel is required as well. It's an asset if you have any relevant work experience within the FI/Banking space.
