What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Bank’s Second Line of Defense, the Control and Governance Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective credit risk control processes to support the Bank’s credit risk objectives.
· Designing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls related to credit risk activities
· Ensuring compliance with internal policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements
· Identifying control gaps, recommending improvements, and tracking the implementation of corrective actions
· Liaising with regulatory bodies to address compliance matters related to credit risk
· Support the Head of Credit Policy Governance and Controls

How You’ll Succeed
- Overseeing Credit Risk Management’s control environment and inventory and driving consistency through control ownership and process documentation.
- Engaging with Credit Risk Management stakeholders to review processes, identify the risk associated with those process and cause for each risk, and identify controls that can prevent the cause from occurring or limit the impact of the risk.
- Enhance control documentation and ensure coverage of CRM processes and risks.
- Completed ad-hoc reporting or project work at the request of the Head of Credit Policy Governance and Controls.
- Liaising with various Line of Business, Risk Stripes, Internal Audit and/or Regulators to influence, direct, review and challenge credit risk-oriented change in the control environment.
Who You Are
- You have a Bachelor’s degree/diploma in a related field such as accounting, finance, or other business discipline.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Compliance, Risk Management, or Internal Audit roles within the banking or financial services industry.
- Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills that drive cross-functional execution.

- Ability to self-start and work with minimal oversight.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and/or initiatives simultaneously under tight deadlines.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $95,000 - $110,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
