What You’ll Be Doing:

As an Analyst/Associate in Global Credit Financing, you will be a critical team member that supports a multi-billion dollar book of securities financing transactions. This role will take leadership and initiative in managing various forms of risk including liquidity, credit, and interest rate risk generated from client-focused financing transactions. You will also be responsible for introducing new trading strategies and product suites to our clients, liaising with Sales, Risk, Treasury and other Stakeholders in the process of modernizing the US financing platform. You will be part of a global team of dynamic, hardworking, production focused team-players based in Toronto, NY, and London.

How You’ll Succeed:

The successful candidate will be accountable for the following core responsibilities:

  • Drive revenue growth in the NY GCF structured credit financing business through our Insurance, Asset Manager and Hedge Fund clients

  • Risk manage Structured Product financing positions and negotiate deal terms: calibrate security haircuts, margin mechanisms and term profile to drive revenue and balance sheet and regulatory capital returns

  • Back up senior CLO investment trader and perform analytics on AFS and HTM CLO portfolios

  • Strong knowledge of identifying and managing risk exposure

  • Implement portfolio monitoring strategies and deal due diligence for credit financing opportunities

  • Fundamental background with OFSI regulatory and capital control that governs Canadian bank regulatory policies

  • Optimize constrained resources, including but not limited to; balance sheet, funding, capital, collateral etc.

  • Identify areas of improvement in existing processes and build strong supporting infrastructure

  • Build and develop relationships with clients, internal risk teams, operations and treasury

  • Liaise with senior risk management on credit financing approval requests and lead risk management on portfolio monitoring and review

  • Facilitate and manage funding transactions for the bank’s USD fixed-income credit portfolio

  • Maintain and relay prevailing market trends and risk positions to distribution or broader Global Markets team

  • Work effectively within CIBC’s corporate governance practices and policies to ensure that all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputational issues and shareholder objectives are covered

Who You Are:

  • Junior-level industry related experience in a buy-side or sell-side role with a focus on structured credit financing transactions, particularly with assets such as CLO, ABS, CMBS and RMBS. Prior work experience considered an asset but not necessary.

  • SIE, Series 7 and 63 would be considered an asset but not necessary (will be required for the role).

  • A bachelors degree in a related field (Finance, Economics, STEM, etc.)

  • Knowledge in financing structures including repurchase agreements, total return swaps, and other financing channels would be considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of the US funding market and collateral management considered an asset.

  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language and strong Excel skills considered essential.

  • Superior business planning and management skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to client satisfaction.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

Working Conditions:

  • This role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions.

  • Open concept trading floor environment with exposure to noise and distractions.

  • Often required to work beyond normal business hours.

  • This role may require moderate to frequent domestic and international travel.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $115,000-$170,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
