What You’ll Be Doing
Finance provides CIBC's businesses with financial information, analytical insight and decision support services. The Central Finance role is accountable for processing centralized activities associated with month end processes, and providing centralized support for the TI&I finance teams.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, CFO Support, the role is responsible for processing and validating the centralized finance functions including Journal Entries, Adjustments, Accruals, Charge Outs, PVAT calculations. In addition - the candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities for process automation and efficiency, as well as coordinating the implementation & communication of any process changes to the broader TI&I finance team.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How You’ll Succeed
- Manage the centralized month end processes – Run the centralized processes associated with the month end close activities, including validation checks, and handling of exceptions
- Analyze operating & financial information to support decision making – collaborate with team members to validate financial analysis aimed at providing financial stewardship and decision enablement. Provide detailed and consolidated analysis of the results and identify potential issues/problems and recommending timely solutions.
- Ensure centralized outputs are accurate and complete – liaise with appropriate Finance teams to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financials. Accountabilities include supporting month-end processes, processing of journal entries and compliance to standards.
- Automation and process improvement – identifying opportunities for process automation and process efficiency. Coordinating the implementation & communication of any process changes to the broader TI&I finance team. This includes processes changes that will need to be made to as a result of migration to SAP.
- Provide advice and service – meet regularly with finance users and partners to understand inputs and outputs to measure financial performance, present financial status, forecasts and analysis. Analyze results and processes with full understanding of the business operations, , provide a view of issues, insights and recommendations to ensure leadership has a full understanding of opportunities and recommendations to support continuous improvement.
Who You Are

- You can demonstrate experience in financial planning and reporting and CIBC’s financial processes. It’s an asset if you have solid skills in using financial tools such as SAP, Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, GL:DM and Essbase-based platforms like CMR and OnePlan.
