What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Enablement (Business Architecture), you will be responsible for the delivery of Business Architecture frameworks, solution concepts and consulting services to support the delivery of quality, integrated capabilities aligned to Personal & Business Banking (PBB) and Commercial Banking Wealth Management (CBWM) strategic objectives. In this capacity, the Director, Business Enablement (Business Architecture) will be accountable for facilitating discussions with business leaders to identify strategic capabilities that enhance client journeys.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategy & Business Architecture – Lead cross-functional (business, technology and other functional partners) business architecture engagements focusing on delivering value and outcomes enabled by business architectural tools such as customer journeys, capability modeling, value streams definition, and process architecture that considers an end to end perspective. Outcomes of such engagements include translation of strategic plans into executable roadmaps leveraging insights from capability mapping across people (clients and employee experience), processes, systems, and services. Maintain/refresh the target operating model and capabilities model from changes to enterprise strategy, business unit strategy and/or external factors; monitor performance of plans and operating model against defined KPIs. Develop and maintain measures to determine effectiveness of business architecture strategies to support client growth/experience, optimize experiences, or better improve resource allocations. Seek to find opportunities to maximize internal efficiencies and improve business effectiveness both within team and within partner roadmaps. Support business unit planning processes and facilitate the sequencing and prioritizing of initiatives. Support the creation of meaningful metrics to measure value delivered through specific initiatives that also act to algin cross-functional teams.

  • Collaboration – Collaborate with business teams to assess strategies and lead development of business architecture artifacts including but not limited to capability maps, organization roadmaps highlighting integration of business processes and technical tools, technology roadmaps and strategic frameworks. Collaborate with Process Optimization teams across SBUs & enterprise to ensure business architecture alignment and appropriate prioritization of process improvement opportunities against longer term roadmaps. Liaise with Enterprise Business Architecture function to ensure utilization of best practices and overarching governance accountability.

  • Leadership & Guidance – Provide leadership and guidance to partners and teams – this includes attracting, aligning, motivating, and retaining a team with the competencies to meet present and future business goals.

  • Relationship Management – Build strong and effective relationships within the SBUs and CIBC’s various infrastructure groups to ensure recommendation and solutions are well-received and actioned. Build ongoing partnerships with key clients across the business, technology delivery, technology architecture, and operations.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience. Extensive experience in Business Architecture consulting and delivery in the financial services industry and/or other related sectors. You have expertise in Business Architecture concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of business capabilities, processes, and information. You have experience leading the application of business architecture practices. You have demonstrated ability in managing a large scale, multi-faceted projects including success in project/program execution.

  • You can demonstrate knowledge. Comprehensive knowledge of financial services practices and principles sufficient to analyze and interpret complex concepts and apply these in innovative ways. Certification in business architecture or a related discipline will be considered an asset as well
