What You’ll Be Doing

As a Technology Analyst on the Disciplined Equity Strategy Team, you will play a key role in supporting a long-term, quality-focused investment strategy managing approximately $23 billion in assets under management. Your responsibilities will include conducting in-depth research and analysis on the Technology and Internet sectors, modeling company financials, applying valuation metrics, and collaborating with the broader investment team to identify opportunities and recommend position changes. You’ll provide critical support to portfolio management efforts and help deliver strong performance to our clients.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Conduct equity research: Analyze individual companies and broader industry trends within the technology and internet sectors to support investment recommendations.

  • Model financials: Build and maintain detailed financial models and apply valuation frameworks to support the investment process.

  • Collaborate effectively: Work closely with the Disciplined Equity Team to provide analysis, support portfolio decisions, and respond to requests from Relationship Managers.

  • Communicate clearly: Articulate your insights and recommendations through strong written and verbal communication.

  • Exercise sound judgment: Work independently and as part of a team to solve problems, prioritize tasks, and make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • Stay detail-oriented: Bring excellent organizational skills and an eye for accuracy to everything you do.

  • Maintain flexibility: Be open-minded and receptive to feedback and differing opinions while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.


Who You Are

  • Experienced analyst: You have 5+ years of experience in equity research or analysis, with a strong focus on the technology sector.

  • Strong fundamentals: You possess deep knowledge of company fundamentals, industry trends, competitive dynamics, and factors influencing stock performance.

  • Skilled communicator: You can effectively engage with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, both in person and virtually.

  • Collaborative teammate: You enjoy contributing to a team environment and are excited to grow alongside a dynamic and high-performing research team.

  • Adaptable problem solver: You bring sound judgment, flexibility, and a proactive mindset to your work.

  • Educational background: You hold a bachelor’s degree; a CFA designation is preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in technology sector analysis and public equity research.

  • Proven ability to build and interpret financial models and apply valuation metrics.

  • Excellent analytical thinking, communication skills, and attention to detail.

California residents — your privacy rights regarding your actual or prospective employment

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $200,000 - $225,000 for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
