What You’ll Be Doing
As a Credit Manager & Managing Director, you’ll be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing credit policies and procedures across the Private Banking & Deposits (PP&D) platform. You’ll play a key role in enhancing the overall efficiency of the credit process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing credit risk. Your work will support underwriting processes—particularly for private bank credits with specialty lending collateral—and help streamline operations to reduce errors and improve consistency. This role reports directly to the Head of Portfolio Management & Administration.

How You’ll Succeed
Lead credit policy development: Create, implement, and manage credit policies and procedures tailored to PP&D.
Drive process efficiency: Design end-to-end credit processes that reduce operational risk and enhance credit-related activities.
Support private bank lending: Define policies for underwriting private banking credits, especially those secured by specialty lending collateral.
Ensure regulatory compliance: Manage adherence to SOX regulations and conduct AIRB quality control reviews.
Oversee credit reviews: Lead annual renewal processes and maintain quality control standards, including oversight of substandard credit updates.
Partner across the business: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to implement platform improvements and deliver credit solutions that align with strategic goals.

Experienced leader: You bring 10+ years of experience managing complex credit transactions and navigating the full credit lifecycle.
Risk-focused: You have proven expertise in credit risk management and regulatory compliance.
Process optimizer: You excel at designing and implementing streamlined processes that improve operational effectiveness.
Private banking savvy: You’re familiar with the nuances of private banking credit structures and specialty collateral.
Collaborative influencer: You partner effectively with bankers and leadership to drive platform enhancements and business outcomes.
What You Need to Succeed
Deep experience in credit policy, risk management, and regulatory frameworks.
Strong understanding of underwriting and renewal processes for private banking credits.
Demonstrated ability to manage credit quality metrics and support sound portfolio performance.
A proactive mindset to lead change, deliver solutions, and improve platform capabilities.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected base salary range of $230,000 - $260,000 for the New York, New York market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
