What you will be doing
This role requires extensive familiarity with Linux servers and frequently involves user support tasks. Expertise with the Linux operating system, Azure and server administration to develop and deploy servers, support day-to-day system performance, and prevent data loss and unauthorized access is required. This role encompasses back-end IT support for business-critical and development-related departments and personnel. As an Linux Systems Engineer, you will be ensuring that our environment both Azure and On-prem works optimally by deploying, maintaining, monitoring and operating servers. Administer and support core Linux (RHEL,SUSE), and VMware technologies. You tackle the life cycle of a server and build and deploy new solutions. Performance monitoring and managing the system capacity. You develop and deploy proactive solutions and setup alerts to ensure system usability across the organization. and and analyze technical incidents, solve technical ad hoc problems; Install and Configure Windows Servers and Linux Server. You also Develop servers and provide support to individual users to ensure that the system works reliably and quickly; Manage server virtualization technologies like VMWare Server/ESX Knowledge in Azure monitoring , service principal in Azure, NSG rule, Azure Key vault; Work closely with other Systems administrators, IT departments and vendors to answer technical questions or resolve issues with server performance and access; Perform System Maintenance activities like review backups, error logs and user-reported errors and identify stable and reliable solutions; Maintain system security by noticing faults and vulnerabilities within the server’s architecture; Provides troubleshooting and support, including on-call rotation, after-hours support.

Troubleshooting and Technical Skills - Work closely with key business and technology partners to ensure that business and client impact issues are well understood and addressed. Ensure all infrastructure management aspects maintain adherence to all regulatory and information security standards and policies.

Relationship Management - Build strong relationships and partnerships with technical team members, clients, vendors, and peers. Lead discussions, listen, and ask the right questions to ensure problems/issues are identified and resolved.
Who you are
You possess skills in Linux/RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration (5+ years n Linux systems administration:.)
2-3 years Azure experience is required. Azure Certification is preferred
Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMWare Server/ESX
Knowledge in OpenShift, Kubernetes is a great plus.
Experience with Windows servers , Active Directory/LDAP is a plus
Strong communication and documentation skills
Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and can manage projects of varying length
Responsible, highly reliable, organized; able to work individually and collaboratively with peers.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply these skills to identify and resolve anomalies in system functionality and performance

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $115,000- $130,000 based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
