What You’ll Be Doing
CIBC’s Global Markets business focuses on delivering expert financial and economic analysis and savvy deal-making capabilities to clients in Canada and around the world. The Global Markets team supports fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, derivatives, equities, and growth markets and is focused on building a strong, innovative relationship-oriented bank.
Within CIBC Global Markets, the Alternate Solutions Group (ASG) was launched in 2013 with a mandate to develop innovative and creative technology-driven capital markets solutions. This group is an unconventional capital markets organization that combines the innovative spirit and agility of a FinTech startup with the financial strength and strong governance protocol of a major financial institution. ASG has been recognized as a global leader in providing disruptive technological capital markets solutions in several product areas including Cross Border Payments, Dynamic Currency Conversion, Multi-currency pre-paid cards, Foreign Cash & Precious Metals Online and white labeling thereof. ASG’s client base stretches from some of the largest banks in the world, to corporates to CIBC’s retail clients.
We are hiring a senior people leader to drive our cross-border transaction business, which includes value-added services like Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) – a key product offering within the ASG team. DCC is a service that enables foreign cardholders to pay for their purchases in their home currency, providing them with the transparency of knowing exactly how much they will be debited. Since its inception, the DCC product team has established partnerships with over 30 financial institutions, enabling this white-label solution on more than 100,000 ATMs worldwide.
In this role, you will bring high energy and an entrepreneurial spirit to help us grow our DCC business. Operating in a fast-paced environment, you will be part of a dynamic, hardworking, and execution-focused product team. Your key responsibilities will include managing client relationships, acquiring new clients, building and leading high-performing teams, and defining an efficient and resilient operating model while effectively managing risk. Travel and time away from the office will be required based on business needs, as you work to deliver exceptional results and drive the success of our business.

How You'll Succeed
Business Planning and Management: You will play a key part in business planning and management, where you will work to meet performance and revenue targets that align with the overall ASG plan. You will contribute to the development of ASG’s short- and long-term business strategies, enabling the team to achieve its mandate, goals, and objectives. By regularly monitoring business performance and market trends, you will provide valuable insights to clients, helping them make informed decisions. Additionally, you will ensure that all regulatory, business, and financial reporting is completed accurately and on time, maintaining a high standard of excellence in all aspects of your work.
Leading with Authenticity: You will manage, support, and mentor a team of five direct reports, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where knowledge sharing and effective problem-solving thrive. You will set clear and appropriate context when assigning work, ensuring that each team member’s role aligns with the priorities of the business unit and contributes to CIBC’s overall goals. By empowering your team, you will help them succeed and grow while driving collective success.
Managing Client Relationships: You will focus on managing client relationships and collaborating across cross-functional teams to drive success. You will develop effective strategies to deepen connections with existing clients, increase their share of wallet, and maximize business opportunities. By building trust-based relationships with financial institutions, you will serve as their primary point of contact and trusted advisor. Through a consultative selling approach, you will anticipate your clients’ business needs and deliver tailored solutions that strengthen their confidence in your partnership.
In addition, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, fostering strong relationships with teams such as sales, delivery, technology, compliance, and card networks (e.g., Visa and Mastercard). Your collaboration will ensure the successful execution of initiatives and help bring new clients, capabilities, and projects to market, driving alignment and success across all areas of the business.Advancing Sales Pipeline: You will advance the sales pipeline by driving new client acquisition and furthering our mandate through proactive engagement with prospects. You will pitch our products, originate deals, lead implementation projects, and oversee production to ensure successful outcomes. Collaborating closely with the sales team, you will support the sales cycle by contributing to client-facing presentations, conducting analyses, and providing ad-hoc product expertise to meet client needs and achieve business goals.
Who You Are
You have completed an undergraduate university degree in business, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or related field, MBA is an asset.
You can demonstrate 5+ years of experience in a professional work environment managing large & complex programs within a regulatory framework interfacing across lines of business and external partners.
You can demonstrate experience with innovative payment and money movement solutions servicing financial institutions, public sector clients, corporate, small businesses, Telco or Digital/Technology focused industry.
You can demonstrate experience providing practical and balanced guidance consistent with assessed risk levels to business partners and stakeholders. You bring extensive problem solving knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating and resolving organizational or operational issues.
You are goal-driven. You’re motivated by the desire to build a thriving new business, in a fast-paced and competitive environment, with aggressive targets.
You have superior business planning and management skills with the ability to create and manage business cases, annual financial plans and business strategies to grow the business and provide value-add to your clients.
You have strong communication and relationship building skills. Proficiency in multiple languages is an asset. Your ability to communicate effectively across lines of business, infrastructure groups and external partners is vital to the success of the business priorities you manage. You also understand strong negotiations and influencing skills will be required to achieve business goals.
You are a bold and accountable leader. You have experience developing and implementing strategic team goals. You can demonstrate experience in effectively managing, developing, mentoring and empowering a high performance team.
