The Sprott School of Business invites applications from qualified candidates for a tenure-track appointment in Accounting at the rank of Assistant or Associate or Full Professor beginning July 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will deliver undergraduate and graduate courses to a culturally diverse student body, supervise graduate students, maintain an active research program, and participate actively in the ongoing development of our academic programs in a highly collegial environment.

About the Academic Unit

The Sprott School of Business is committed to excellence in research and teaching and holds accreditation from AACSB. Faculty at Sprott have recognized expertise across a broad range of accounting-related areas, including the accounting profession and careers, governance and accountability, measurement and impact, performance management, social and sustainability accounting, taxation, and voluntary disclosure, among others. The School offers a diverse portfolio of academic programs, including the Bachelor of Accounting (Honours), Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) with a concentration in Accounting, Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting, Master of Accounting, Master of Science in Management, and PhD in Management. Qualifications

The successful candidate must:

  • Hold a PhD, or equivalent, in Accounting. Candidates close to completion will also be considered.
  • Commensurate with experience, demonstrate a strong record of, or clear potential for, innovative and scholarly research, including the ability to develop an externally funded, high-quality research program consistent with AACSB expectations for a doctoral-granting business school.
  • Demonstrate teaching excellence, or strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions.
  • Demonstrate commitment to, or strong potential for, service, including committee work, curriculum development, or accreditation activities (e.g., AACSB).
  • Demonstrate potential to supervise graduate students at the master’s and doctoral level.
  • Demonstrate contributions, or strong potential for contributions to the academic life of the Unit.
  • Demonstrate experience and/or potential in advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the discipline and across the university community.

The following are considered assets:

  • A Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Research and/or professional experience in taxation.
  • Ability/strong potential to engage in collaborative research with existing members of the Unit.
  • Demonstrated engagement or liaison with business, government, and/or professional accounting associations.
